Chapter 56: Where is the big fish?
🕑 Added 2019-09-12 20:00:17 +0000 UTCNext day, Wu Hai woke up early as usual and opened the reservoir gate, receiving people who came to fish.
Although the heat of the "big fish incident" is reducing. A lot of people are still coming to his reservoir to fish.
Like today. Just this morning, 37 people came.
After being busy for half a morning, Wu Hai finally received the last guest. Resting for a while, he suddenly remembered that he should have fed the fish in the cage.
With his reservoir being so hot, he is very busy almost all day, which resulted in him forgetting to feed them for a few days.
The bait that he uses to feed his fish is made by himself, Mixing various grains and grass using a formula he created. His fish bait is not only very attractive to fish. But also provides the necessary nutrition for them.
At noon, he finally grabbed his bait, then bought it to the cage.
The cage was calm with no trace of activities. When he saw the calm water in the cage, Wu Hai blamed himself internally, the fish is usually very active, but now the water is very still, they are probably very starved.
Not even a single fish is playing in the water, even though they are always jumping out of the water.
Thinking of this, Wu Hai quickly grabbed the bait from the barrel, then threw it in the water, a smile etched on his face.
These hungry little guys are finally going to eat until they're full. He could already imagine the fish jumping out of the water in jubilance.
"Oh... what happened?"
However, in the next moment, he got really surprised, because no fish jumped out of the water.
Where are the fish?
Wu Hai circled around the cage, looking left and right, even putting his hand in the water, but he still didn't find any fish.
Seeing the very still water, Wu Hai heart sank. Seeming to think of something, he ran towards the other cage and threw the bait in the water, but similarly, no fish was found.
Something is wrong, this is absolutely not normal.
The nearby fishing enthusiasts, noticing the flustered look on Wu Hai’s face, went over to check his situation. After hearing about what happened, they also felt that this is very strange.
Then, Wu Hai and 10 other men joined forces to lift the cage, their finding was absolutely shocking.
They discovered that on one side of the metal net, a large hole with obvious traces of destruction was there.
There are no fish in the cage, it's obvious that they ran out of this hole.
Everyone expressed their sympathy for Wu Hai’s experience. Then one after the other went to excitedly research on what type of creature could have done this.
Some people speculated that it may be some sort of carnivorous fish, suck as piranhas or something similar.
Some people simply said that it's probably a crocodile.
Everyone worked together to lift the other cage. As expected, the net of this cage was also broken.
Now everyone is sure, in Wu Hai's reservoir, there is an absolutely a fierce creature that can break a metal fishnet.
Previously, some of the new people held doubt over the legendary big fish existence. But, after seeing the broken cage, their doubt has disappeared;
Even if there are no big fish in the reservoir, there is surely a particularly fierce creature.
Some people took pictures of the broken cage, then posted it on social media. The picture plus the description of what happened and Wu Hai reservoir location. These posts blew up very quickly, attracting a large amount of interest among the people.
As the post was getting more and more popular, it eventually attracted the attention of a local TV station.
The next day, a group of special guests visited Wu Hai reservoir.
They were reporters of the local TV live station. After obtaining the consent of Wu Hai, they began to investigate. Using various detection equipment, including underwater cameras and sonar detectors to find the traces of the mysterious creature. But they didn't find anything.
The TV station reporters were disappointed. They even went as far as accusing Wu Hai of using fake news to advertise his reservoir.
In order to prove his "innocence", or just wanting to find the mysterious creature that destroyed his fish cage. He bit the bullet and caught all the fish in the reservoir.
He even used special materials to clean the entire reservoir.
But what made him amazed is that the reservoir has no creature apart from the fish he usually breeds;
Don't talk about mysterious creatures, he didn't even find the "Big Fish" whose shadow was spotted several times before.
What exactly is going on? Where did that big fish go?
Wu Hai fell into deep confusion.
.............
While Wu Hai was depressed, Fang Yun has already traveled a long distance along that big river.
The river where he is currently has narrowed slightly, being about 15 to 16 meters wide, it's depth has also become about 6 to 7 meters, not as deep as the previous one but still more than enough to hide his existence.
Fang Yun journey in this river is a particularly relaxing one. Being 7 meters long, he can be considered an overlord level creature in this river. no creature dares to provoke him.
During these ten days, he was mostly focused on swimming. He only stopped occasionally to catch some fish, so his bio-energy did not have a particularly big increase.
“I wonder where this river will eventually flow.”
What Fang Yun hopes the most is that this river flow by a rainforest. Then he can just crawl there and hunt as much as he wants.
But on the way, he only saw ordinary mountains and small forest so he never crawled ashore.
"Oh?"
Fang Yun, who was swimming, suddenly stopped moving and just looked ahead.
Not far ahead, an urban city is looming.
Looking at the modern city, a trace of nostalgia rose in Fang Yun's heart. He swam with his head sticking out of the river, looking at the various modern architecture, the pedestrians coming and going. Hearing the familiar car noises, all of this made Fang Yun mood very complicated.
A cement road where people came and went was built next to the river.
He stretched his head out of the water so that he can clearly see the buildings around.
The architecture of this city is almost exactly the same as the country where he lived in his past life.
Looking at the city in front of him, Fang Yun had an illusion of returning to his hometown.
At the same time, the impulse to settle in this city rose in his heart.
But soon he pressed back this impulse and continued swimming forward.
"Mama, look, it's a snake, a big snake:"
On the sidewalk, a three to four-year-old girl stretched out her finger and pointed to the river on the side, her eyes were brightly shining as if seeing something very unusual.
"Stop running around, how could a snake be in the river?"
Not far behind the little girl, a young woman dressed in stylish urban clothes was playing with her mobile phone. After hearing the little girl words, she looked up and said to her.
"There are only....."
While talking to the little girl, she glanced in the direction where the little girl was pointing at.
However, after that glance, she swallowed the second half of the sentence that she was about to say.
On the surface of the water, a long shadow was slowly sinking underwater, not long after, it completely disappeared.
what was that?
Was that really a snake?
How big is that snake?
The urban woman was amazed, but then she couldn't help but feel some regret.
"Why didn't I take pictures!"
If she took a picture of that shadow and put it on social media, she would surely receive a lot of likes and retweets.
