🕑 Added 2019-09-08 19:42:42 +0000 UTC
Wu Hai is a very experienced fish farmer, he had been doing this job for almost 40 years.
He is currently 57 years old, the prime age for retirement, but he didn't want to end his career as a fish farmer.
In the past few years, relying on fish farming, he gathered quite the assets, transforming his previous household situation from the previous poor to the current small rich. He used almost all his household money to buy this fish reservoir, fulfilling his childhood dreams.
Last year, together with his son who also worked most of his life in this industry. They expanded this reservoir even further and reinforced the dams around it with cement.
Furthermore, according to what his son has said, he built ten pavilions next to the dam, planning on using them to attract tourists and fishing enthusiasts;
In half a month, they will open this reservoir to the public.
Every once in a while, Wu Hai will ride a boat and tour around in the reservoir, sometimes to fish, sometimes just to change his mood.
Looking at the fish happily swimming around in the reservoir, his mood brightened;
"Splash!"
Suddenly, he noticed the water splashing not far ahead, Wu Hai glanced over there, a smile appearing on his old wrinkled face.
He concluded that it was the fish happily playing in the water.
Coming to such a conclusion, he was about to turn his head and look elsewhere, when suddenly the smile on his face froze.
He found something wrong.
On the water surface where he saw the previous splash, a little red spot was in stark contrast with the blue water. Shocked, he quickly rowed the boat, rushing toward the red spot.
Reaching that place, Wu Hai was surprised.
He saw that on the surface of the water, there is indeed a red spot, something that shouldn't appear in his reservoir.
"blood?"
Wu Hai lifted his head and looked around, but he did not find any abnormal situation. The water surface is very calm, without the slightest wave, as if nothing has happened.
He frowned and tried to look down underwater, but the water is too deep, he could not see the bottom.
At this moment, the sky is beginning to dim, causing the wide and calm water surface to be overcast, especially in farther places, just like a horror movie.
Moreover, because it's impossible to see the ground and the water is quite gloomy, plus the blood spot on the water, it's very scary. People would imagine a variety of dark and scary monsters underwater. If someone who is weak-willed or is easily scared, stay in this environment alone, they would probably be scared to death.
Wu Hai was alone in a small boat, docked in the center of this wide gloomy waters, trying to explore the creatures underwater. Even under such circumstances, he wasn't nervous or tense at all.
He has been working in environments like this for years, scenes like this can't even faze him anymore.
It's not the first time he encountered an event like this, In his past experiences, he encountered blood on the water quite a few times.
In one of these occasions, it was a catfish about 1.5 meters long preying on other fish in the reservoir. This fish is a large freshwater fish with fast growth, large size, and delicious taste.
There are many fish farmers who breed this type of fish.
However, Wu Hai has never raised this type of fish in his reservoir. He always raised herbivore fish such as carps.
A catfish suddenly appearing in his reservoir somewhat shocked Wu Hai.
Catfish is a ferocious carnivore fish that feeds on other fish, has a long life span and a big size, sometimes reaching a length of more than 2 meters.
Who knows how a catfish entered his reservoir.
Perhaps it was blown by the wind to his reservoir or bought in by someone, or maybe other reasons.
Wu Hai remembers that on one occasion, a catfish was hunting a fish more than 10-cm long, during the process of eating it, blood overflowed from that catfish mouth, which led to it getting discovered by him.
After struggling for a while, he finally pulled out the catfish from the water.
This time, it shouldn't be another catfish in his reservoir?
Thinking of this, Wu Hai wrinkled his brows.
If that's the case, then it's troublesome. This reservoir is bigger than the one he last salvaged the catfish from. It will be very hard to even find it.
The last time he encountered the catfish, they had to open the fish-selling plan ahead of time, using a lot of fishing nets to catch most of the fish in the reservoir.
Only then did they manage to catch the catfish.
Does he have to repeat this action again this time?
However, his fishing pavilion has just been built and will open in the near future. If there is no fish in the reservoir, then what would be the point of opening it?
Wu Hai stood up straight on the boat and took a deep breath, his face inevitably showing a hint of depression.
Shaking his head, he rowed his boat, going back to the shore, his face showing a contemplative look.
What he did not see was that under the water he previously stayed on, a giant creature with a length of more than 5 meters was staring at his back.
In fact, when Wu Hai stopped the boat and tried to look underwater, the five-meter long python was watching him back.
'When you watch the abyss, it's watching you back' is truly a fitting sentence for this event.
That giant python is naturally Fang Yun.
The previous movement was also made by him.
At that time, a carp swam to his side, thinking that it's a good opportunity, he immediately attacked it, but because of its rather big size and fierce struggle, it resulted in water getting splashed, thus attracting Wu Hai attention.
This is not the result he wants.
According to his expectation, he should have hunted that carp without making any noise. Well, accidents often happen, there is nothing he can do about this, anyway, he doesn't think that this little thing will cause any big thing. Shaking his head, Fang Yun went back to hunting.
..............
After Wu Hai went home, he sat on the couch and thought about the previous incident. Thinking back to the red spot, he finally decided to pay more attention to the reservoir in the next few days, trying his luck and seeing if he could catch the catfish.
In the next few days, Wu Hai basically spent the whole day in the reservoir, which is not a good thing for Fang Yun.
Originally, he planned to start crazily hunting fish this time, but with Wu Hai always staring at the reservoir, he couldn't find the opportunity.
More importantly, he was almost discovered by this old man several times while hunting.
This fifty years old man eyes are really sharp.
When Fang Yun was depressed at the persistence of the old man, Wu Hai was also very depressed.
Now, he is sure that his reservoir is in trouble.
In the past few days, he saw or heard the water splash five times while traveling along the reservoir. He was sure that it was fish struggling underwater.
Even once, he saw that after the water splash, a waterline was swimming to the distance, something that can only be left by a creature swimming at fast speeds underwater.
Under the waterline, it's probably the thief who is eating his fish.
At that time, Wu Hai immediately chased with the boat, but the waterline quickly disappeared. It should be that the thief sank underwater.
However, something is different from what he expected beforehand.
In the beginning, Wu Hai felt that it's likely a catfish in his reservoir. But now it seems that this is not the case. Will a catfish hunt so frequently?
Under his sight, the thief ate fish 5 times already, how many times did it hunt before he saw it?
Now he suspects that there are several carnivorous fish in his reservoir.
Otherwise, there would be no way of explaining the frequent hunting and theft of his fish.
Wu Hai stayed on the small boat almost all day with fishing nets ready on his boat, he is ready to try his luck, seeing if could catch the carnivore fish in his reservoir.
Because of Wu Hai’s unusual behavior, the fact that there are carnivore fish in the reservoir spread in the village.
Afterward, several villagers said that when they passed by the reservoir, they saw fish jumping out of the water, others said that they saw blood spots on the water.
These rumors made Wu Hai reservoir a hot topic in the village;
Everyone is guessing what is happened in Wu Hai reservoir. Some people say that it's likely a catfish or other carnivore fish.
Others say that it should be a turtle, like the one shown in the animal world TV show.
Others suspect that there are piranhas in the reservoir.
In the end, after this argument was put forward, it suddenly became very popular in the village.
The reason for this is related to a TV drama that is currently popular on TV.
