🕑 Added 2019-08-28 19:49:48 +0000 UTC
Fang Yun stared at the four jackals outside the hole, four pair of eyes stared at him fiercely, baring their teeth and making threatening voice from time to time;
If Fang Yun was still the naive high school student he was before, he would have peed himself in fright if he saw this sight out in the wild;
But now, seeing this scene didn't bring the slightest change to his mood.
His heart has grown a lot stronger.
As Fang Yun and the Jackal group were having a staring contest, one of them started using his claws to dig into the hole.
"These guys sure are vengeful."
Seeing this scene, Fang Yun has the urge to roll his eyes. The reason why these four Jackals stayed here for the night is probably not to hunt for food.
The bigger possibility is that it's because he killed their companion yesterday.
These guys probably want to avenge their companion.
While thinking about this, he turned around and crawled deeper into the cave, staring at the four Jackals outside, all of them are digging right now, using their claws to try and dig as deep as possible.
However, the Jackal group gave up after digging for ten minutes. After all, despite trying their best, they only managed to dig a hole about 60 to 70cm deep before the ground started to become really hard.
Therefore, the four Jackals could only give up.
But they did not leave. They squatted at the hole entrance and continued to wait.
Fang Yun at the cave did not panic, nor did he worry about his situation. He even had the urge to laugh, after all, snakes metabolism is much slower than other animals, often resting for more than two weeks after successfully hunting prey.
"I wonder how much these guys can persist." Fang Yun thought, gloating.
Fang Yun looked at the four Jackals outside who were glaring at him, thinking about who could "win" and went back to sleep.
One day passed, and at night, Fang Yun crawled to the entrance to check if the four jackals left, finding that they are still sitting at the hole entrance.
Fang Yun crawled back into the cave, wondering how much can these guys persist.
Looking at their determined look, Fang Yun thought that this situation will continue for 4 or 5 days, but he did not expect that in the next morning, no trace of the jackals was left.
After Fang Yun woke up from his sleep, he went to the hole entrance, as usual, to see if they are still there, first, Fang Yun flicked his tongue to determine where their hiding spot might be after not spotting them.
After flicking his tongue several times but still not finding anything unusual, Fang Yun slowly explored his head from the rabbit hole, looking around he didn't find any sign of their existence.
He climbed over a protruding boulder and looked around, making sure to survey any possible hiding spot but he still didn't find them;
Now Fang Yun is sure, the four jackals have left.
Fang Yun shook his head in disappointment, he also thought that these guys are very loyal, intending to avenge their friend no matter what, but he didn't expect that these guys kept that loyal and determined appearance for just a day and night before completely giving up.
In fact, these guys can not be blamed for not being loyal, what they have done can already be considered a very rare act of loyalty in the animal kingdom.
After confirming that the four jackals had left, Fang Yun let out a sigh of relief, before seeing a jackal corpse not far from this location.
It's the one he previously killed.
Like most animals group, Jackals will not eat their companion's body if they are killed, but of course, there are exceptions, some animals group, especially if they are hungry, don't mind eating their companion's body.
But these four jackals are obviously not the case, they probably protected their companion from other predators during these time.
So this complete jackal body belongs to Fang Yun now.
Fang Yun came to the side of the jackal and quickly swallowed it. this jackal body can provide him with 350 bio-energy point, which he is not planning to waste.
The size of this jackal is slightly bigger than a wild dog. which made his body look very bloated after swallowing it.
After the jackal body was completely digested, he obtained 350 bio-energy point, which bought his total points to 2870.
His next upgrade is very close.
Fang Yun got excited, immediately continuing his exploration while searching around for prey, in hope of undergoing his next evolution today.
After half a day, he captured another five voles, gaining 75 bio-energy point.
And at this time, he finally reached the mountain end.
He didn’t have any accidents along the way, nor did he meet the four jackals again.
"I finally finished exploring this mountain."
Fang Yun let out a sigh of relief. while he was exploring this mountain, he met another 2 goat herds, thinking that it was a good opportunity he planned to capture another lamb to complete his evolution.
Unfortunately, the goats have protected the lamb so well that he didn't find any opportunity to strike, and these herds were wary of snakes unlike the previous one.
Converging his thoughts, Fang Yun looked straight at the opposite forest. Compared with the other forest on the other side of the mountain, this one looks more sparse.
This forest looks nothing special. There may be some prey, but it should not be nearly as much as the one on the other side, comparing the two forests, the other one is obviously more suitable for him to live in.
But just as he turned around and planned to leave, his pupils shrank.
His eyes stayed straight on a trail on the ground.
The ground is very flat, but on one track, Fang Yun saw a wide trail not looking like anything than an animal could leave behind, instead, it looked like the traces left by a vehicle weels.
Fang Yun slowly crawled next to the track and closely looked.
The more he looks, the more certain he is that a vehicle has left these traces on the ground.
"Probably some type of cars passed by here?"
Fang Yun was stunned.
Cars will pass by here? deep in the mountains, near a forest?
He looked up and closely examined this mountain road. The ground of this mountain looked very flat, with hardly any bumps and holes. If this road was connected with a road at the bottom of the mountain, it is indeed possible for a jeep or some sort of off-road vehicle to climb across the mountain.
Thinking of this, Fang Yun was finally relieved.
However, this is something worth paying attention to, cars have passed by here once, and it's likely to happen again, so he should be prepared for his next meeting with humanity, and he has a hunch that this meeting won't be as pretty as the previous one.
Shaking his head, Fang Yun cleared his thoughts and crawled back to his cave.
Although it's already pretty late at the moment, under his full force crawling, he is confident that he would return to the cave within three hours, and at that time, the sky wouldn't have completely darkened.
After making up his mind, he quickly slithered, crossing several meters each second, completely focusing on running back to the cave, and as he expected, he reached the cave in less than three hours.
At this time, the sky is already beginning to darken.
He swam across the lake and was preparing to enter the cave to rest.
Suddenly, he stopped moving and turned his head back to the lake. Because he heard the sound of something in the water, he faintly saw the outline of fish fleeing in the water, and a black shadow closely following them.
"That is... Is there an animal hunting in my lake?"
