IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1967) Full Reaction!
🕑 Added 2024-02-08 17:00:13 +0000 UTCMy face in the thumbnail is my constant reaction to all the a-holes in this movie 😒 But this was a good watch! It was a crime film at surface level, but showed so much about racism and how garbage people can be as well 🤪

NOTE: You follow along with your own copy of the movie; I have a little timer right at the beginning where it counts down and shows the word "play" when I myself start playing the movie. I also have a timer synced throughout the movie so you're also in sync the whole time! If you don't have your own copy, then you'll have pretty much no idea what's happening!

Piece of trivia: Beah Richards who played Mama Caleba also played Sidney Poitier's mother in GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER... released the same year! Two superlative understated performances. A special shout out to Lee Grant (Mrs. Colbert)... that woman -- who will be 99 years old in October! -- is one of the great undersung actresses of her day. The chemistry between Poitier and Steiger is a large part of why this movie is still so potent today... (Norman Jewison's direction and Quincy Jones' score don't hurt either). It's so easy to despise the racists in this movie (or in any movie... or in real life). The bitter pill is that these people are products of their social upbringing -- and that is what is so sickening.

One of the biggest highlights of Norman Jewison’s amazing six decade career. Hopefully you can get to some of the others sometime.
