An atypical embrace that makes you uneasy from the first moment. Jade recognizes the mental space of the embrace, she is serene which is not normal in a traumatic process and even takes the luxury of making jokes. That attitude immediately causes a role reversal: the beast becomes disoriented and confused while she takes almost complete control of the situation with her lack of emotion. That twist was brutal. The beast tries to provoke her with questions that go for the jugular of her problems with disturbing expressions almost from a horror movie, something Alex is extremely expert at... and even then he doesn't succeed, becoming completely disconnected. Then the key appears spontaneously when talking about death: the detachment from life. And that probably explains why all this sounds familiar to her because it's not the first time she's tried to escape from that prison. She's not afraid of death, she was looking for it. Absolute brilliance. The most unsettling prologue of all, without a doubt.
