The First Playtest (2022)

After production haulted on New York by Night, Alex and Joey gathered the rest of the coterie and few friends at The Scabby Rooster to film a little playtest with a different style of camera work and gameplay to what we'd previously established. this is the clip we sent off to World of Darkness to get their thoughts on bringing our VTM streams out from behind the table (which is why this clip has WoD branding on it). we learned a lot of things during this playtest (like not to just plug in cheap mics and hope), and everything we gained from this playtest went into making Private Nightmares.
You'll see what these last few years of work have become on March 7th

Congrats Joey on the great job cleaning up the audio! I really dig that intro with everyone emerging from the coffins. The set design very maximalist and somewhat baroque, every corner beautifully packed with interesting visual details. The playtest was captivating from the very start. Even in a more laid-back context, Alex doesn't disappoint. The music, lighting, and expressive performances of the guys quickly create a truly captivating atmosphere and environment with little effort. Absolutely loved that cliffhanger, so full of questions, where no one knows anyone, nor knows what's going on, is simply wonderful. Felt like the opening scene of a Saw movie. 8 minutes just flew by for me.

As has been pointed out, as much I would at some point in the future see the rest of the one-shot, I think all the production time is probably best spent on the actual show rather than cleaning up the sound issues from this as fun as it was.
