Is it wrong of me to be against the whole synth thing on the basis that it will lead to a group of immortal elites and I am strictly against immortality at all because people are not meant to be.

John

If it’s underrated why would you not direct people towards it.

This whole "bringing people back as robots" thing reminds me of those memes where the longer you look at a picture the worse it gets... When the initial novelty of being in the future and meeting aliens wares off, poor Kristin is in for a rude awakening... Also, I think Virnt is a sociopath. His lack of empathy towards the people he resurrects goes beyond simply being autistic. Consider this: Why did he not reconstruct Kristin's voice? Given when she was alive, there must have been at least one video of her still somewhere on the internet. With the tech we know exists in 2160, it should have been trivial for Virnt to show her picture to an "AI agent" and let that program scour the internet, find some of Kristin's social media, and perfectly reconstruct her voice from there. We can do this today, in real life, with about 10 seconds of recording. We know they have better AI in 2160. Also, why no breathing? Virnt regularly reads Meir's thoughts directly. He does not need the ability to infer from tone, body language or social ques what gives Meir the most discomfort. He also does not need to modify the robot body physically to fix breathing. Just create a digital simulation of the sensation and pump the signal to the digital mind. It will never know the difference, and the quality of life improvement would be huge. But, it seems Virnt does not care. He just wants test subjects, and to work on stuff that is interesting to him. If he was a regular engineer, doing anything other than this horrific project, that wouldn't have mattered. But he literally holds human lives in his /manipulators?/! And it does not take a genius to see this could only end badly...

So, we have synth, and we are about to have a whole bunch of human clones, and we have a space war with a enemy humanity has no idea about - not what they look like, not what they want, not why they are fighting. What does this remind me of? Hint: a very underrated show that unfortunately got cancelled after one season on a major cliffhanger.

The thing im afraid of is when we switch to KC pov and Humans and Jaslips do go with the plan to bomb innocents then they really will start sounding like the federation when they say to SC humans that their aggressive savages which SP can and will use as another plot device to create more drama. 🎭
