Some Lvm

So there are 150 embassies on embassy row, each member of the shield got their own despite not being members of the SC, and yet, humanity couldn't spare the "bandwidth" for two more Bissem embassies? Really? This just clenches it for me: the Bissem war is totally humanity's fault!

I think you mean Virnt von Frankenstein.

Electro Meier is Frankenstein's monster. That's what is happening here. Think: If Victor von Frankenstein did not abandon his creation the moment he saw it, would it have been a monster? Or could he have made it man? Just as one of the overarching themes of NOP1 was "man or monster", an emerging theme I see in NOP2 is "man or machine." What maketh man? If we accept that Elias Meier was man, separate from being Human, and possessed the necessary qualities to be man, then if Electro Meier possesses those same qualities as his namesake, is he not also man? We accepted that Isif was man, did we not? Once it was revealed that he felt empathy, compassion, a desire to protect, and was driven to improve the galaxy, despite knowing that he himself would never sit beneath the shade of the tree he had planted, did we not accept him as man rather than monster? Why not Meier, then? If he possesses, truly possesses those qualities that made his predecessor man, than should we not also accept him as man rather than machine? Perhaps that is why some of us have found his chapters so jarring: He behaves as man, but we know he is machine. But is that true? Do we _know_ he is machine? Or do we simply know that Terra Tech treats him as machine, and so we find ourselves compelled to do the same? After all, if anyone should know whether he is man or machine, it must surely be his creators, yes? Frankenstein's creation was a monster. Was this ordained? Or was it simply the consequence of its creator _treating_ it as a monster? Is Electro Meier a machine? Or are we simply being compelled to see him as such by his creator (which _is_ a machine)? And before anybody asks: No, you can't have any. It's mine.

Flinty Flakes

The thing with Meier feels less like a Ship of Theseus and more like there was a ship that sunk, but we have its schematics and info about what changed about it over the years, so we recreated it as best we could and then sent it out to do about what the first ship was doing (but different accounting for time). I do not think that robo-Meier is bio-Meier. In several ways he can be treated like he is, but fundamentally he's a slightly-different duplicate.
