They just learned one part of what allowed us to become earth's dominant species: the power of the yeet!

Nicholas

"There's twenty of us and one of it." Then it is a fair fight.

Nicholas

I'm guessing that Kippe didn't think to grab her deceased comrades' guns when they fell so Cedric is about to get a big upgrade to his arsenal.

Tyler Ellis

Loving it so far! Kinda hoping we see some lesser known ancient human hunting weapons come into play like the Atlatl or the Balesric slingshot! Invested a decent amount of time reading up on those throughout my life!

neon_ns

"Have you ever heard of the phrase, 'the most dangerous game,' Kippie? Not so fun when your prey fights back, is it?" -Cedric probably

neon_ns

I really, really hope Kippie ends up ritually sacrificed to the Spirit of Life by Cedric. Afterall, the Spirit demands life-takers, and Kippe has way more kills than even the Navy SEAL Cedric.

neon_ns

Ceterum autem censeo Kippie esse delendam.

I could see everyone but Mallin dying, while Mallin is kidnapped and forced to take Cedric off planet. I actually wouldn’t be surprised by or opposed to all 17 of them dying, but since Mallin is both a fan favorite and the most open to changing his viewpoint it seems, if anyone would make a good hostage to get the human off world via ship, it would be him. That said, with Kippe being a viewpoint character she has more plot armor than Mallin (Space Paladin has killed characters before, but seems to target major ones less often). I’m not confident in any of the above predictions, more thinking out loud. Also, I’m excited for the technical failures/blackout that’s most likely about to hit. Hopefully that will take out their heat seeking technology and stuff, leaving only the 17 to worry about, at least until he leaves the forest. The likely combination of mass panic due to failing of technology and loose human seems fun.

Byron Ritchie

The prey have become the hunters then became the prey again lol

... Yeah, this tracks~

As a second note... We learn of the Cyber attacks on March 9, when Onso and Tyler learn of them... By this point though, there is ALREADY anarchy in the streets. Food spoilage from a lack of refrigeration, people resorting to backups and fires for heating in winter locations... I think the Cyber attacks have likely been going for AT LEAST a solid day or two before everyone's favorite Cappyroo learns of the Feddies just rewards... Honestly, the Cyber attack appears IMMINENT... It could happen in hours, it could happen in a day or three... I do not think our survivalist friend needs to wait out a full 4 days though, having very closely reread chapter 154. Onso learns about the CONSEQUENCES of the attacks... They are WELL in progress by March 9th Friends... Redemption is imminently upon our survivalist... May the spirit of Rambo give him strength. May the will of the commando flow through him. This death cult will not prevail! Mwahahaha!

Yannis Morris

Kalsim knew we were sapient the whole time

Khorne approves.

Sci-fi reader

Or John Rambo.

The last chapter should be in a hardware store. 😀

Your dark god can't save you now, may they be devoured by the spirit of virtue and your soul be dragged kicking and screaming to hell by the spirit of hypocrisy Kippe. I truely hope none of these Yulpa have a very long future ahead of them beyond being made into art displays held up by pikes at the edge of a town.

jr_aye

Imagine if he ends up conquering the whole planet! Probably wouldn’t really fit with the greater story but it’s fun to imagine

DemonVee

I hope Anla and Mallin make it out. Maybe one just flees and the other gets captured and let go due to pity. Kippe is almost certain to survive but I'm sure she won't have a good time.

richfiles

March 9... Chapter 154. Our pal needs to survive 4 days in the wildernes to make it to when we learn of the cyber attack. Maybe it starts a bit sooner? No longer than 4 days though... I wonder how many Yulpa will survive those 4 days. Hehehehehe.......

DemonVee

Now that's an interesting thought. Though, maybe Kippe is smart enough to scuttle anything that they can't carry.

Jay Scott Raymond

Interesting to see this variation on the Feddie formula. They clearly have the Feddie indoctrination on predators but their religious twist on it allows them to recognize that Humans are sapient. Most of the other Feddies deny we have "true" sapience.

KnightWolf 200421

Wonder how they would react to martial arts?

Reptani

I like this premise. It's simple, but it's effective. Just like Cedric's traps.

Tazeell

They are getting decked so far, good good, definitely not used to sapients at all. They should have brought some actual military personnel with them, likely more useful in this situation.

Mack D.

"Y'know, for 'hunters', you're really not very good at this." Cedric to his soon-to-be victims

Adam Myers

Cedric's spirit animal: Charles Hazlitt Upham https://www.reddit.com/r/wwiipics/comments/lsitbh/charles_upham_casually_lying_in_barbed_wire_after/ The caption for the picture ought to read, "I am not stuck in here with you, you are stuck here with me."

Adam Myers

I really want Mallin to end up alive and being convinced of humanity's good nature with Kippe being captured as a hostage and taken to Earth. It would be interesting to have her juxtapose Kalsim in prison, with him seeing the dark mirror of himself.

Alekss Žukovskis

i thought its Federation tech??

PhycoKrusk

I mean, I know this is a life and death struggle and there aren't really any rules, but for some reason, the thought of going after Mallin feels... unsportsmanlike.

Overwatch_the_protogen

Forest. Human completely.

Byne

Yknow, since we know the memory transcriptions are human technology, that means at some point, humans get ahold of Kippe, or at least her intact brain, and will contaminate her very brain with our spooky predator cooties. A fate worse than death as far as she'd be concerned.

Roscuro

They have black blood? They were already monsters, you're just adding more and more layers to it.

EliasArt2Life

"We have guns and seventeen people all focused on ending its life." You started with 20, and made no progress. Technically, you started with him in a cage, an arena full of civilians, and a bunch of guards, and made no progress. What makes you think 17 guarantees anything, at this point?

EliasArt2Life

That’s why I think that Kippe is not actually smarter than Mallin. Mallin seems a little dumb, but is mostly being held back with indoctrination, and has been adjusting to what he’s seeing not matching up with what he thought he knew. Kippe is less indoctrinated, but isn’t adjusting. Where Mallin is seeing the clues and realizing that he has NO idea what he’s up against, and is getting apprehensive, Kippe is still talking like “now that we know all the tricks it had up its sleeve, the rest will be smooth sailing”, despite being shown new tricks multiple times. Granted, I think it’s partially because it’s her reputation on the line, but still, her refusal to adapt is quickly making Mallin look more sensible and intelligent than her.

Apogee

I wonder if she will realize that the human isn’t the sacrifice, it’s her civilization that will be sacrificed to the Federation ideology. (The Koloshians very clearly don’t care about the loss of life of their own people let alone the aliens they subjugated. I see the cyber attack being so devestating as the federations fault, intentionally making their members civilization so weak)

EliasArt2Life

Has anyone read “And Then There We’re None”, by Agatha Christie? There’s a poem in that book that strikes me as being similar to this situation. I don’t think that Mallin is as dumb as Kippe thinks; he’s among the first to recognize that they can’t win this battle, at least not without a major death toll. I think his naïveté comes from society. Think about it; they were planning to start a human population for sacrifice, and feed them on what? Hunted meat? No. They were going to feed the humans plants. I’ll skip rehashing the Archives experiments, and say that this shows that, in Yulpa society, it doesn’t matter how a predator lived its life; they are always just as good as a sacrifice. In other words, Yulpa society gives predators no depth and decides that all predators are the same in almost all regards. Of course Mallin thought making loud noises would work; all predators are the same, so what works on an animalistic predator will work on a sapient one. But Mallin is adjusting. Kippe ISN’T. Despite what Kippe thinks, Cedric DOES have a way out. Once he takes all the hunters out, he’ll have an arsenal (if he hasn’t already started it) of tranquilizers, which he can use to pick off the exterminators on the outskirts and slip away. I imagine that they’re is a position where every one of them can see another, but these guys haven’t had the best track record on this kind of thing, so I believe they’ll give Cedric an opening eventually. PLUS, he could pick up the radio and get tuned into the Exterminator network… only… there are 3 chapters left, so I think we’ll be getting the plot twist soon. Something tells me that the Yulpa are about to have… technical difficulties. Final Note: “These primates were known to be ambush predators, though I doubted they could be hidden and stealthy without lying in wait.” I see that all of the obscuring what kind of predators we are, and how we hunt, has finally paid off. They’re in for a surprise… well more surprises.

Long comment, so I’m posting it in the replies to this comment.

Magnificent story! Keep it up! "The beast’s grubby hands were carrying a makeshift satchel, suggesting it’d gotten into the food supply; a separate team of exterminators were sent to throw out the contaminated nourishment." Didn't it strike as weird that he ate and took FRUITS? And let's caption what Kippe thinks of the human: • pale, freakish, doesn't know about camouflage. • a city-dwelling murder machine. • magnificent at killing living creatures but not that dangerous without its tools. • an ambush predator who couldn’t resist killing any living thing that offered an easy morsel. • a moronic scourge whose sickening mind didn’t detect anything awry with blood and decay. • a savage fiend just pretending to be civilized. • made "crude" and "rudimentary" traps using animal remains. Kippe's conclusion: "the first thing it thought of was a meal." • a one-trick demon, after discovered to have "a trick" Kippes decisions: "If I captured any sapient hunters in the future, I would lop off their hands and feet so they couldn’t go anywhere or touch anything." Nothing predatory in this statement. Or sadistic, psychopathic. "unlike an animal, it’s completely aware of what we’ll do to it, so it will not surrender." Really. How did you figure that out? And whose fault is this, completely?Ddq

John Benjamin Cate

I hope that Mallin survives this somehow! I bet they set up a trap and get trapped in it!

T___

They were asking for it. How did it not cross their minds that a lone human alone in a spaceship and answering a distress signal was perhaps not an average specimen!

BigSneppy

Feddies when the trees start speaking human 😰

PhycoKrusk

"We have guns and seventeen people all focused on ending its life." No, dear Kippe; what you have are bullets. Bullets, and seventeen hopes that your Human runs out of tricks before you run out of ammunition.

Greg Gougeon

It will happen Becaue of the cyber attack of frd worlds they will be too busy stopponv riots and trying to fred everyone to notice a missing ship.

Yannis Morris

Bravo

Matěj Habarta

Mallin is a funny character, I actually enjoy him when ever he says something.

Mr. Walker

Yeah, this guy is ex-military with some survival training. Even I am ex-military (reserves) and I only passed grenade throwing because the drill sergeant made me perform a figurative "monkey dance" for his amusement when he found out I don't have a good throwing arm.

Mr. Walker

>“You’re a fucking idiot. That murder machine has more reasoning power than you. Stick with me, quietly…and try not to instant message the predator our location.”------------- Instead, Mallin leaves the human a nasty review on "Yulp," XD.

un_pogaz

Oh, new episode of “The Sacrifice”? Hold one! Wait a second. *takes out popcorn* Better. Now you can resume. > to aid in locating the beast's heat signature *crunch, crunch* > There's twenty of us, and one of it. *crunch* Sad their are outnumbered against our man, it ruins the suspense. > “So?” Oh putain. Mallin is a all circus at this own. Hope that the others are a little more functional, otherwise it's really unfair for Kippe. > the human must not be used to hunting sapient Well, *crunch* if I remember correctly, this traps are precisely designed for sapients... bwouah, they will find out. > How could the human have built a spear launcher of that caliber? What kind of accelerator was silent? The evolution. Our arm. We are build for that. > What will be his next move, as we return to his POV? I don't know, but Cedric must be upset at having missed Kippe's hanging.

Conner Deese

Those zealots are absolutely fucked every last one of them

RANBOW BABY LETS GOOO

Some Lvm

You have reached the heavily-armed help line. Unfortunately, all our operators are busy making their way to Aafa. Your place in line is...

Pleaseandthabkyou

Sp has got to perform an insane mental gymnastics routine to allow out guy to get off world

Some Lvm

“We should start shooting it. With guns.” For a Yulpa, that is such a human thing to say! Now, we still haven't seen the spike trap in action... Not sure how big it is, but I bet Cedrik can lead more than one enemy in to it. But jungle fun aside, Cedrik is going to need a long term plan. I don't think he will have trouble with the remaining 17 hunters, and he could probably slip through the quarantine before the exterminators manage to torch the forest, but jumping from one wild patch of land to another isn't going to work for long. Luckily, our guy is also a trained spaceship pilot, so he can steal a ship without needing to capture anyone if he can get to it. How far is it to the nearest space port?

Noah Munson

Make bacon from the death cult!!!

Thrownawaz

It's just a prank, Kippe!

Anemoia

Cedric channeling his inner Yautja

Pineapplepilot

I think it's funny when xenos see stuff like this and think "this is their true nature!" And then you look at the human and its an S-tier murder professional. Like, most people haven't even killed a mouse, hell, I can't throw for shit lmao.

EclipseDragon96

Aliens vs predator

PassengerNo

Cedric knows how to hunt predators like you Kippe!

Ondram05

Oooohohohohoooo, the yulpas are so fucked

Paperclip

They're going to get picked off one by one, until Kippe is all alone with the knowledge that one mistake cost dozens of her own people's lives. When she's face to face with Cedric, she'll realize she was never cut out for sacrificing sapients. At least I think. I thought I wasn't going to like this miniseries, but now I'm really excited to see the finale. Nice work!

Found&Lost

Oh those xenos are so screwed. They haven't even secured the weapons of their fallen.

Nebnoc

Time for a hunt. :)

Mylax Kindflame

Hopefully he manages to snatch a spare communication device and call for help; preferably the heavily-armed kind

jervictor jer

Anla and Mallin already are trying to call it off, sadly Kilpe pride is stronger

jervictor jer

I mean that is our most crafted art. we specialize in hunting and fighting each other... Long before the federation was even a thing...

one smol birb

Strongest federation special forces vs One singular DEVGRU operator with prep time and nothing else. This is an entirely uneven fight, the yulps are screwed

RaphaelFrog

That's the moment when they learn that they made an giant mistake by trying to slay a human💀

Mylax Kindflame

Whatever happens, I hope he makes this bitch beg. Even if he does die, this little spectacle guarantees a harsher sentence for the Yulpa.

PS1 Hagrid

“the human must not be used to hunting sapient prey” Famous last words

HiMyNameIsFelipe

Kilpe is just following the traps, soon, she will be all alone

John Benjamin Cate

Efficient! And the throwing ability of humanity shows its effectiveness! And now we have a few more characters to see! I do hope one of them is relatively decent and tries to call this whole thing off!

Taran

And the hunt begins in earnest. I wonder if he'll be able to double back sometime with his endurance and get a hold of one of the fallens firearms.

Jackson Hazeltine

And we’re back for another chapter baby!
