Ya know, based on their religion, he’s gonna earn at least a few years of prosperous life from taking out these Yulpa xD

kindtheking9

All fun and games until you are against the trees

harkange 585

They thought humans where just more deceptive arxurs, well guess they'll learn the hard way why we are completly different and worse if pushed

Julien Barrette

It’s all fun and games until the trees start speaking English.

SimpleArtist

Vietnam enters the chat >:)

Cypher

Gotta love the classic punji stick trap. Fun fact, it was common for users of this trap to apply excrement to the stick in order to cause infection should the victim survive.

Squat

How many days has he been out there?? It'd take at least 4 to accomplish all of the very time consuming tasks that he did. That would be rushing it too.

Mike Barth

Kill them all Cedric let their misanthropic god sort them out.

EliasArt2Life

@Wingit98 I think that the funniest part is that they are likely never going to find out that Cedric is specially trained. So, they’re going to think that ALL humans have these capabilities. Basically, they’re going to reconsider their plans to gather a human breeding population REAL quickly.

Sworishina

Home Alone vibes ✨

Lunam

The only way the Yulpa could have fucked up harder is if the human they caught was named Lara Croft.

OctupleThreat

I say this because the amount of build up is textbook for SP's writing when there's a major subversion coming. Not to mention what feels like subtle undertones in the phrasing here and there that the main character's thought patterns are going to lead to him making a mistake. Maybe a Yulpa child will fall into one of the less lethal traps and our main character will save them, thus starting down a road of convincing an entire planet of cultists that all humans are nice just from their case study of one and our main character will realize all thoughts he had previously about how savage the Yulpa are were horribly racist and misguided. Reading these side stories can be frustrating because they consistently pull punches and it's left me with a serious case of blue balls for any real action or cathartic aggression. The main story is full throttle and is only going to get more intense, but these side stories almost feel like the Veggie Tales version of the Old Testament

OctupleThreat

With SP's track record on these side stories I imagine the Yulpa will have some sense we don't know about that let's them avoid all the traps, our main character is easily captured by another dart, there's a long dramatic conversation with Kippe and everybody hugs and then the end.

GeneralLDS

OH this is gonna be fun

Relzyrx

I've been waiting for something like this, and I loved that The Most Dangerous Game reference

Cera Treascair

Oh, this is going to get *ugly* quick... ... and I'm HERE for it!

Wesley Rigg

FIRING THE COPYPASTA! What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

Bbobsillypants

Seeing what hippy space vegans can do the prey folk, I can only imagine what one of humanity most well trained killers can do to these cultists.

Valerie Morton

Lets hope all the unsuspecting civilians hole up in their homes when notified that a dangerous predator is on the loose.

Sci-fi reader

I like his shows, but you research a bit, Bear Grylls is “a bit controversial” within the SAS and wilderness survival communities.

Cakeb

RAMBO RAMBO RAMBO RAMBO RANBOW RANBOW RANBOW RANBOW RANBOW LETS GOOOOOOO

river

i was worried for a sec that the shrew like animal may have been a dossur but i realizd they have their own planet

Swan

I really hope he gets rescued by a UN spec ops team with one of his old SEAL buddies on it just so we can have a "Cedric! You son of a bitch, how have ya been?" Scene like in predator

Pay Me For NOTHING

Oh I'm starting to like this! I wish I hadn't hesitated to read this bonus story...

Danny Luca

Finally! Humanity will get its revenge gore!

Some Lvm

The minute I read about our guy setting traps, I was wondering who would be the first to show concern over the possibility of innocent civilians falling in to them. I've recently been getting the impression there are a lot of people out there who are so obsessed with finding an oppressed underdog to defend, the second a victim starts fighting back they will take to defending the very enemy said victim is fighting against. Honestly - if public opinion during WWII was the way it is now, we would all be living under Nazi rule. Well, not all of us of course, a lot of us would never have been born because our parents would have been killed, but you get the point.

Bri

Moreso I think he was noting it was the exact same sort of shock collar they put on marcel

Some Lvm

Well, guess this wasn't intentional, but still there are very few worse humans Kippe could have chosen (I can imagine some marines getting annoyed a seal was the first to have the opportunity to hunt Yulpa). This is shaping up to be one of my favorite stories on here, not that it is an easy choice to make...

BigSneppy

It’s like reverse predator

Tazeell

Time for a bloodbath of torture cultists!

un_pogaz

[ex-Navy SEAL] O_O Oh fuck. That the wrong guy to pick up, inded. Now, the question is not whether our human friend Cedric will survive, but rather how many corpses he wants to leave behind. > I'd shaped myself into a creature of the night, starting off by coating my skin with river mud; Rambo mode activated. Now it's his forest. Olalal. This whole series is going to be a lot of fun. I love how we went in an instant from the absolute horror of the Yulpa religion, to one of the most cathartic series because, cleary, the Yulpa will be eaten raw by Cedric.

PhycoKrusk

If people want FAFO, they can read the official stuff. With fanfics of any work, cuddles and romance are the most popular genre because it makes people feel happy.

EliasArt2Life

The most terrifying type of predator isn’t the behemoth that can kill you in an instant if you don’t avoid it; it’s the predator that will chase you forever, regardless of what you do to flee. The most terrifying prey isn’t the invincible, aggressive one, that is dangerous to approach; it’s the one that you can’t even get within two spear throws of without being in deadly peril. Humans are both of those. I hope that Kippe realizes, before this is over, that these traps aren’t predatory behavior; they’re prey defenses. All the while, the predatory nature of humanity will be watching to ensure that none of them get out. Whoever guessed former military, good job! You hit the nail on the head! This is going to get even worse for the Yulpa, once the first wave fails; Cedric will have a small arsenal of Yulpa weapons after that (Tranquilizers, and the like). It’s also possible that there’ll be another shock collar, and Cedric will put it on Kippe, rather than killing her, since that would force them together, and Cedric will need someone to help him get off world.

PhycoKrusk

For a moment, I was really hoping that some kids didn't go wandering into those traps while on an adventure. Then, I remembered where he is, and that there is absolutely no chance of that happening. Cedric finds himself in a very rare situation indeed: He knows for an absolute fact that anyone out there besides him, is trying to kill him.

Flinty Flakes

A little worried that he's just in the wilderness near his last sighting, but it sounds like he wants to kill Kippe and the rest of his pursuers, and it's easier to do that when you're near where they're going to be. I imagine Federation wildernesses are not terribly big, either, and there's only so much running he can do. I'm also worried that they have cameras everywhere in the forest, or some similar means of surveillance so they can spot predators/PD patients who are hiding out there. Also, I'd like to point out that it's common sense to remove the collar if you have one and you're going to escape being kidnapped, and our human here didn't need to know about Marcel for that. The blending in aspect doesn't apply here, but I think one could safely assume there are trackers/weapons on that thing.

Tyler Ellis

Oh yes! I’ve seriously been wanting a survival character for a while now. Finally getting NoPs version of Bear Grylls! Now I’m invested in this miniseries!

Gavin Pierce

And perfectly released on Veterans day. This is gonna be kickass

Space Paladin

Thank you! I don’t want it to outstay its welcome, but it’ll be a fun ride. Probably going to be six parts, but hopefully they seal your opinion on this side series 😅

Thrownawaz

Thrownawaz

Aww yeah! This is a quite enjoyable change of pace. Self fulfilling prophecies for the win!

Stellar

Former Navy SEAL? Oh boy. Deploy the copypasta!

OGslow ski

I love survival stories

Gareth

It honestly surprises me that all fanfic has been cuddles and not delved in to the reality of FAFO - I'm the nicest guy in the world until you try to hurt me/friends/family. Then it's petrol. High time prey got it's ass spanked, good and proper.

Apogee

Awsome! But the guy sounds like he’s loosing it a little. I hope he finds a way off world. This gonna be one wild ride. Giving me action movie vibes like Rambo, RED, and such

neon_ns

Personally if I was in his place I'd try to book it as far away from the last sighting location as possible, as far into the wilderness as possible, and then go about setting traps. Otherwise, good job SEAL, let's see how the turntables turn and table. As per last, Kippie deserves to be ritually sacrificed if at all possible.

Ciberj1

In all honesty. Vietcong traps are super clever and easy to make. I personally like the beartrap shaped one that closes around your legs, but scaled a bit bigger for our xeno friends to get impaled on the chest and back.

Alexander Andrews

Well... This should be interesting.

Sci-fi reader

Punji sticks and spear traps, oh my! Ceddy: First Blood

Yannis Morris

Racism is gonna work against them when they think this is the instinct of all humans

Byron Ritchie

He’s going to go all yautja on their asses

John Benjamin Cate

Oh my! He’s going full Rambo! Impressive! Though I still hope to see a Yulpa that isn’t full evil to show that there’s hope for them.

architectural engineer

oh boy I really like this story it's your best side story so far in my opinion. I think you might even want to make a main series out of this. I totally think it will get popular enough to warrant considering it at LEAST.

Ondram05

Hohohohohooooooo, this is gonna be fun

gooordy

PUNJI STICK TRAP MENTIONED ‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥

DramaLama

while the ideology itself isn't evil, the fact of the matter is that Humanity First was founded on terrorism and the assassination of a political leader. that sets a precedent for how the organization operates going forward. that event served to radicalize people and drive moderates towards extremism. that is why these guys are depicted as bad guys, these people were driven to that circumstance.

[REDACTED]TMA

You can break a Yulpa cage lock with another Yulpa cage lock

jervictor jer

I mean their logic makes sense... they think the moment a predator smells blood it loses all control, Humans can behave because they don't directly smell blood, a distress signal is that, a message of weakness a sight of blood and easy prey that not a single predator can resist, not even Humans... Now... If a predator used the same tactic to lure Prey they would say that thy were using their empathy and other stuff, not seeing the irony.

Swan

I suppose my guess of "Human Spec Ops to the rescue" wasn't completely off; even if i didn't think he'd be one himself. Him having a mental breakdown in front of Kippe might actually work out to his advantage; they might think he's weak, and thus underestimate him.

Mylax Kindflame

It’s honestly kind of weird to me that Humanity First are depicted as unanimous bad guys given that aliens like these fuckers are roaming about. Yes, it makes perfect sense that some people would take it much too far, but the sentiment of “the galaxy hates Humanity, so for our survival we have to consider our own kind before others” is largely reasonable here.

PassengerNo

I know Kippe is an awful person, but using a ***distress*** call!?! That’s just low. Lower than dirt.

T___

I can't wait for other installments of this story!

Wingit98

The one human you captured just so happened to be a fucking Navy SEAL. Rotten luck, fellas

Stueymon

If it bleeds, we can kill it

Alekss Žukovskis

the primitives are going to be so FUCKED!!! HAHAHAHA

Youre a swedekisser arent you

Yes, I am. Just need to scroll down fully first. Pretty annoying but not entirely broken.

Youre a swedekisser arent you

This is giving some serious Ending scenes of Predator (1987) vibes. Hopefully the end has a similar results for Cedric and his persuers. Edit: Aw fuck, someone else made the comparison first. Oh well.

snidramon

So this guy is the descendant of the Lockpicking Lawyer, Primitive Technology, and a trained soldier? These aliens are fucked.

Not a Rocket Scientist

This stuff reminds me of Dutch from predator and Rambo combined into one, and some old HFY stories but with the added notion of what happens in the main story really helps flesh it out.

Pariah Devalis

"I'm not locked on this planet with you. You're locked on this planet with me!"
