Future Plans #24
🕑 Added 2024-02-29 14:00:46 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Even in a leap year, February will always feel too short to me. I can't believe the month is already over, but thank God I remembered that I still need to make Patreon reward posts before it's too late.
Anyway, here's the preview for this month of the next project in line after Reanimation Scheme, the xianxia otome game, Fate of the Celestial Mirror! If you have no idea what that is, here is a link to a previous post with a very simple overview of the project: https://www.patreon.com/posts/future-plans-13-88410387
I was hoping that the MC sprite would be done by today so I could post it as preview, but alas, the artist ended up needing more time. So instead, I'll highlight a feature of the game that I'm kind of proud of and hope would be interesting.
Speech Bubbles vs ADV Textbox Mode
At the start of the game, you'll get a choice to select what kind of dialogue presentation mode you want: speech bubbles or bottom textbox (among other settings, of course, but today, we'll just discuss this one).
As you can guess from the name, the Speech Bubbles mode presents all dialogue in the form of speech bubbles next to the speaking character. Something like this, for example:
Whereas the bottom textbox mode is the more common ADV textbox mode that you find in most visual novels:
I'm quite fond of this feature, since I think the speech bubble mode offers a degree of immersiveness and allows your eyes to focus on the art / character expressions more rather than staying at the bottom of the screen, while still allowing players who are used to and prefer the traditional ADV textbox format to choose that if they prefer!
You don't want to know how many tears I shed over the coding part of this feature LOL so I'm pretty proud that it actually works now, and I really hope some of the players will enjoy and appreciate this!
Anyway, I say this preview is just a highlight of the speech bubbles feature, but honestly, y'all got a lot more previews out of this than just one (i.e. a sneak peek at the textbox, some customization settings that I'll highlight later on and even a piece of background art...) 😂
I hope you like the look of this project so far! I'm excited to reveal more in upcoming months and plan to publicly announce the project on social media once Reanimation Scheme's final route is in beta. I'm really really nervous about the reception given the niche genre of this project, haha.
All right. That's enough rambling for now. Thank you so much for the kind support, and I'll be back with more reward posts for this month later tonight / tomorrow morning!
