Thank you! I think everything that ends is a bit sad, but it wouldn't be as good without some sort of conclusion. I'm still adjusting to it being over, myself! I'm glad you enjoyed the ending, and I hope to see you back for the next beginning.

Wow. I cried during this. It’s perfect but so far from simple and straightforward. I think I’m happy but it’s a hurt happy. Thanks for this whole story. I don’t post either but have been with you for a long, long time. I’m going to miss this. You’re a tremendous author.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's always a bit nerve-wracking to post an ending to something you've been working on for so long, so I appreciate the reassurance that I didn't screw it up.

That ending was absolutely beautiful! I know I don't comment much, but this story has been amazing and your best yet!

My god. such a masterwork of a fiction. really can't thank you enough for bringing this into the world, it's far better for it.

Maybe a songbird, for our poor newspaper staff - the true heroes of the story, lmao. My intent was that Mike was thinking of her when he said that. It's not the classical "happily ever after", but it does fulfill each of those words completely.

I never imagined when I happened upon this on Royal Road over two years ago that it would end up being one of the finest stories I've ever had the privilege to read. Thank you for this, a wonderful end to Michael's story. A little bittersweet, I'd hoped for a kinder end for him and Sera, but as he said, nothing is ever lost - perhaps the bird singing at the end was a mockingbird.
