v13 progress – Beta available, but no Magic Items
🕑 Added 2018-06-15 20:32:15 +0000 UTC This probably doesn’t come as a surprise for anybody, but the long-awaited version 13 of MPMB’s Character Record Sheet is NOT done yet.Get the Beta version 13.0.0beta here now! (patrons only)
I have to admit that I have painted myself in a corner by promising the Magic Item feature for a fixed version number and then running out of numbers leading up to that to push any other fixes/changes. The whole copyright debacle had me scrambling to make a version with proper import support, using up all the leftover version numbers in the process.
In the time since the release of v12.999 I have gotten a lot of good bug reports and feedback from you, the fans, which is great. I have implemented a lot of changes to the code, but have not been able to finish the automation for Magic Items. This is because I have been going over my code to make some fundamental changes which will make the addition of the Magic Item functionality much easier and more comprehensive.
After all the long months of waiting, I don’t want to leave all of you hanging and I have decided to release a beta of the upcoming version here on Patreon. This is only available for patrons. The beta includes all the finished fixes and changes for version 13, but not the unfinished things like support for Magic Items.
I’m also releasing this beta because I find that I am spending more and more time on testing the changes while that time could be (better) used to create new features. That is where you come in. I would like to ask you to try the new version and report back any issues you find with it.
I’m also still working on finishing the new website. It is mostly done and I’m now working on the content such as a FAQ page and some how-to guides. I plan to launch the website together with v13, or maybe a bit before if working on v13 becomes too frustrating ;)
However, the beta sheet already has a lot of links to this new website. For obvious reasons, those links will not work while the new site is not online. Please don’t report those as ‘bugs’ with the beta version!
This beta version will most probably not be compatible with the final version 13. It is highly likely that when v13.0.0 comes out, you will not be able to import a character from v13.0.0beta into it (completely). So beware of this caveat when switching your characters over to v13.0.0beta.
P.S. How do you like my new headers? I wrote a PHP script that lets you generate them automatically. Try it out yourself! Go to https://img.flapkan.com/div.php?headcolour=blue&divcolour=orange&scale=1&txt=Example.svg and change the variables in the URL (the part after an '='). You can set the colours in the URL to any of the 11 available in the Colourful sheets and change the text “Example” in the URL to whatever you want. You can also set the scale as a whole number.
Don’t understand what to do with the URL? See this Wikipedia article for an explanation.

Yo! One thing I notice with the beta is that all ammo in the illustrations on the first page now shows arrows. Is this a conscious choice?
