Speedrun Explained 59 (Update 2); Speedrun Explained 60 (Update 1)

It's been an incredibly busy month and a half between working on videos, working on all the side projects I mentioned in the last post, streaming, traveling for AGDQ, and more. I'm still working on a lot/all these things (editing for 2matoanus has fallen a bit to the wayside, but planning to get back into that soon), but wanted to give you an update on the SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED I'm currently working on, along with announcing to you what the next SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED after that will be.
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #59
This SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED is covering Half-Life 2, which you all voted on and picked to be covered in the latest Patron's Choice poll. I've been working with the runner on this video for a little over a month, and I've been writing the script over the past three weeks. This run is a BEEFY one. There's so much movement and tech in it, and I can see the video length probably getting close to around an hour. The writing itself is coming along pretty well, though we've had to deal with some re-writes along the way. Long story short, there have been a few timesaves found in the run, and we wanted to include them in the video. This meant the runner had to record new segments for the video and also record explanations for me, while I edit the new footage into the run and write new sections for the video. I want to say this is the third time that there have been pretty sizable discoveries made while working on a video (the other two being either BioShock 1 or 2, and Control). I'm pretty happy with how the script is coming along so far, the explanations feel very strong. Right now it feels like the script is pretty much solely the explanations though with not much going on in terms of flavor. My plan is to finish up the draft of the script this week, and then spend a day reading through it and punching it up as necessary. As for when the video will be done, right now it's looking like back half of March, probably close to the end of the month. Excited for you all to see it!
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #60
Alright, this one I haven't announced yet! The next video after the Half-Life 2 video will be a SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED covering an Any% speedrun of Cuphead. I'm PUMPED to be covering this run. I tried to learn to speedrun the game when it first came out (ended up falling off), and I'm super excited to return to it and learn everything that's been discovered over the years. This is also a pretty different type of game than the ones I normally cover, so I'm really looking forward to broadening the scope of the channel a bit with this! This video is in the very early stages of production, with the runner aiming to record the run by mid-March. Based on when I'll be wrapping up the previous video, I think that this video will likely be out in early May.

Cuphead is very interesting 🤔 Have played it casually so seeing the "pro" strats that speedrunners use in comparison to my own gameplay is gonna be very exciting!
