In this installment of SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED, we go over how Alien: Isolation speedrun world record holder, xEB, beats the game in 22 minutes. This run utilizes some major sequence breaks, using one of the games only mechanics, crouching, to clip through walls (crouch clipping). In addition to that, most of the missions are skipped, and some other useful tech is used, such as silent running, letting you get past aliens without detection.

APE ESCAPE FOREVER

Awesome video as always, I found the explanations of speed tech even easier to follow in this one. Also love that you take the time to add proper closed captions to your videos, great stuff man!

If you think about it, Alien: Isolation is a thematic sequel to Ape Escape

Thank you! Totally get what you mean. After the first go at it with SMO, I feel like I'm starting to get the idea of what a good balance is with being on screen where it adds to the video being engaging, while not distracting or detracting from the run! Always trying to make each video better than the last.

I think that you nailed the addition of yourself on stream on this video, you are less "distracting" (i dont know if its the right word to use) than in mario odyssey, but still add comedy to "serious" explanation. Great video as always tomato

Loved your appearance on screen to highlight a few things 👍 Great video as usual, congrats to you guys for the content!

Hey all, hope you enjoy the video! Had a ton of fun making this one. One quick note is that at around 19:57, there's a line I accidentally left in about aiming near things with collision. This is a mistake and was meant to be removed! I just used YouTube's cut and edit feature to remove the line, but it'll likely take a couple hours to process. So if you watch before that line is removed on YouTube's end, then just know it's not supposed to be there!
