Speedrun Explained 42: Update 2; Speedrun Explained 43: Update 1 (+ random Patreon things)
🕑 Added 2022-05-05 20:28:34 +0000 UTCHey all! Quick update on the next two SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED videos and potentially something new coming to Patreon.
So to put it short, the Subnautica vid took a lot out of me with how intensive the script and editing was, but all that aside, the BioShock Any% video was a treat to write and came together very quickly! I just actually finished writing it today and just sent it off to this video's collaborator for review. Hopefully will be getting moving on the recording and editing early next week, and have the video to you all for your viewing pleasure sometime during the week of the 23rd!
That brings us to the next topic, which is the next video after BioShock. Those of you who read these updates might remember how the DEATHLOOP video came to be. I messaged my friend and frequent collaborator, seeker, about the possibility of covering the game someday, and he simply said "let's do it, I'm good to go now." Well seeker and I had a very similar conversation a couple weeks ago about another game that recently came out that he also holds the record in, a little gem of a game called Elden Ring. That's right, the next video after BioShock will be covering the Any% (Unrestricted) category of Elden Ring, aka the category with all the insane zips. This video will be coming out sometime in June, though not too sure when. But June for sure.
On to the last thing I wanna update on is the Patreon as a whole. The current setup for the Patreon in terms of tiers and rewards is very rudimentary and I've wanted for a long time to "overhaul" it in some way, both in terms of what tiers are available and what content is provided. I haven't ironed out all the details about this, but is something that's on my docket to do in the coming months. Once I figure out exactly everything I wanna do with the Patreon, you'll be the first to know, but things I'm thinking of in terms of additional content is maybe doing something like a monthly wrap-up/discussion video where on the last Friday of the month I upload audio/video of just me talking about how everything is going in terms of production, how things went for the video I released that month, talking about intricacies of the video making process, things I struggled with or breakthroughs had when making the video, just giving a bit more of a peak behind-the-scenes and get a bit more personal with you all. Think of it as a podcast I'd run by myself that's available for only Patrons. This is all tentative though, but wanted to give you an idea of what I'm thinking about in terms of content.
That's all though! Hope you've all been well lately :)

Honestly haven't figured it out yet, but as soon as I know then I'll be letting you all know.

Is the βpodcastβ style monthly update video going to be a separate tier or is it going to be included for subscribers at the existing tiers?

The Subnautica vid was really good, great work on that. Really happy to see you choosing to work on the Any% of Elden Ring. Wanted to suggest covering that last poll, but at the time the record was like 1h 45m. Excited for the BioShock vid, but remember to put your wellbeing first!
