Regarding IOS Patreon App
🕑 Added 2024-08-12 13:41:04 +0000 UTCStarting in November, IOS (Apple Store) will start charging users a lot more for Patreon memberships. From my understanding, which is very limited as I would not touch an Apple product with a ten foot pole, you can still use the app but if you subscribe to any membership (or purchase anything in general through it) you will be hit with a massive fee (Nearly 50%).
I attached an image that explain it well. You will notice that the amount shown does not even include the Patreon fee.
My suggestion? Stop using Apple products, they've been dead for ten years already. Yet, I understand how difficult it is to switch phones, especially with the current economic climate, so as an alternative, make sure to pay your subscriptions through Android or PC.
Good old PC; can never go wrong with it. Feel free to drop comments if any of you have further information about this matter or just want to vent and throw shit at Apple (I'm all for it)

It doesn't start until November, so keep that in mind. Technically you should be fine as you are not making any purchases through the app but...this is literally the poster face for evil corporate schemes lmao. Honestly, I'm as blind as you are, the best we can do is hope for the best

Well i am using the app, but it is billed through my computer through paypal so idk, if they started increasing my bill times half itd be startling

Too much to uproot the system I already have in place here and Patreon has not done anything to warrant me dropping them. This entire situation is from Apple rather than Patreon.

I don't think so. As long as you don't use the Patreon app on your apple product, they can't charge you for what you don't buy or use. Just stick to browser, but I'm not sure how Patreon on the Iphone browser would work. Would they force you download the app? Not sure, but PC is always the way to go imo

Better yet use a different service to post like ko-fi as a platform, gifs creators a bigger cut. I think subscribestar is also better.
