New Story Poll! (Reposted because multi votes)
🕑 Added 2024-06-30 17:15:06 +0000 UTCAs the title says, I am thinking of starting a new story, however! I shall not start it until I finish at least one of my current ones.
Think of this poll as just me gauging your responses on which media you would like to see a story on, rather than which story you want me to write next.
Without further ado, here are the stories I have in mind:
Crimson Chains (tentative title)
A Naruto self-insert from birth but the character shall still grow into Naruto himself. Frankly, I do not even like self-inserts in stories but this has been on my mind for a while. Naruto will be red-haired and have full Uzumaki abilities and shall be paired with an OC sister of Sasuke (older than him but younger than Itachi. No genderbending)
I already wrote a first chapter and have it somewhere but I plan to rewrite it if I ever take this story seriously.
I have another Naruto story that is NOT a self-insert but I have not planned it yet. The premise is set right after graduation where Naruto from the Blood Prison movie is travelled back in time to his child self but has memory problems. Expect a more serious and broody Naruto with a healthy dislike of the Ninja system.
Middle Earth: Shadow of the North
Jon Snow in Middle Earth set a couple of years before the events of the Hobbit. This will be an older Jon who is juiced up on Old God magic and Ghost fusing with him due to Melisandre botching the ritual to resurrect him. The premise is that the Old Gods are nameless and formless because they are but a shadow of a fraction of the goddess of nature in Middle Earth. They yearn to return to Yavanna and manipulate Jon into it as he chases the last of the Others, an apostle of the Great Other who in turn is but a piece of Melkor's shadow that travelled worlds and arrived in Westeros.
Jon will get lost in a blizzard and finds himself in the shadow of Gundabad. I had entertained pairing him with an OC elf maiden but every nerd I spoke about Tolkein lore told me that's a bad idea. You get no benefits, the elf becomes mortal, and your kids don't get any special power. Pairing will be open for now, but this will start as Jon simply being a ranger or a hunter in the North of Middle Earth and later develop into kingdom building, focusing on the Vale of Anduin, Rhovinia, Dale, and Dorwinion.
Alternatively: I can follow the exact same formula but with Percy Jackson. He also arrives in Middle Earth before the events of the hobbit and shit happens with him and dragons and stuff lol.
Which brings me to my third story.
Lightning Storm (tentative title)
During the events of the Sword of Hades in the Demigod Files, Percy and Thalia fall into Tartarus, taking the Chaos express to Middle Earth. They wake up underwater in the Bay of Forochel in the year 3017TA, finding themselves in a desolated and cold wasteland. Monsters are abound, orcs, goblins and other nasties are everywhere. Eventually, they make their way to the Grey Havens, things happen with Cirdan and are sent to Rivendell.
My plan for this story is to completely upend the fellowship and the overarching story of the War of the Ring. Due to the duo's arrival, more monsters appear from the far north, that are on nobody's side. Villains gain benefits and so do the heroes, but within the massive conflict of Middle Earth, Percy and Thalia will grow close to each other and form a powerful bond...despite Thalia's enamoring with a certain gold ring.
My LOTR stories will be inspired by the books, the movies, and the games (Particularly Shadow of Mordor). This poll shall remain open for a long time and pinned for newcomers to leave their votes. Remember, this is not a binding vote nor is this for which story I shall start next. I am merely interested in what story would interest you more, which is why I left a fourth option in the poll. Keep in mind my interests when dropping suggestions: HP, ASOIAF, LOTR, PJO, Naruto, One Piece, and RWBY.
I might still write in a new setting if its popular and interesting enough for me to take a look at.

I do have a solid plot bunny for the HP world but the MC will be Ron. PJO simply does not work well with the HP world, especially if HP is the main setting.

Already using elements of cultivation in Lament. It's not obvious, but the hunts, the eating of prey, and the rituals were all inspired by cultivation mechanics

Arc Moon was my attempt at litrpg. As you can see, I'm doing my damnedest to avoid writing about the litrpg part of the story. Cultivation is interesting but I have had enough of Chinese novels that are copy paste of each other. I may use elements of cultivation in my work but I won't write a fanfiction about a Chinese novel

Man, you keep choosing topics that I am simply not interested in lmao. No zombies, no resurrections, no time travel (unless its a one off thing to start the plot), no time loops...these are the things that do not interest me off the top of my head. Keep trying though, maybe you will mention something that I may find interesting. The thing is, I don't even know what may interest me until it hits me in the face :)

Sorry to say but I'm REALLY not a fan of time travel, especially the time loop setting. Neiter writing it nor reading it. Maybe using time travel as a singular instance of plot device, but the entire plot of the story centered around time travel? That's a nightmare to write lol

I really hope you do shadow of the north. There is just such an incredible synergy between GoT and LotR. One is more of a dark fantasy while the other is traditional seen as high fantasy in its totality.(However it is more of nobledark until the last movie) Looking forward to what you have planned

There are other ways to throw a curve ball other than the sister. Could just not have Itachi kill all the children, or just spare his own mom. Or something else unrelated to the Uchiha.

I would rather actually write an entirely new PJO story. I had one in mind following a very simple premise, what if the prophecy was like in the movies; at 20 years old instead of 16? Story still starts with Percy at 12 years old but it's going to be a lot more dark than the children's books

Since you’ve crossed Percy over in some of your fics it be cool to have one where it follows him back in his home world after a crossover. Could be in between heroes of Olympus and the first five books Just a suggestion.

We will have to wait and see what Oda has in mind for them, but so far I will keep my hopes reserved. One Piece has fallen into the anime trap of transformation after transformation to power up the heroes while introducing new power systems that completely ruin the continuity of the old story. We really do not know anything about Shanks's crew, for all we know, they could be agents of the government 🙃

I would disagree on there’s no room for normal humans in the universe. His father Yasopp is on Shank’s crew and he’s a normal human (as far as we know). The both of them are very similar. I think that Yasopp had the confidence to accomplish his shots unlike Usopp. I think Oda is waiting for the right moment for Usopp and Nami to hit an epiphany and really shine. Usopp has a lot of potential. The shots he makes in the story are really good. If I think he just needs some motivation to really unleash the potential he has as a character.

The thing with Ussop, not even Oda knows what to do with him. With the way he is taking the story, there is no more room for normal humans like Ussop or Nami. Notice how useless they have been in Egghead so far and how their fights in Wano were utterly contrived? They should have died tbh, or at least one of them. Maybe if they had devil fruits but Oda seems to have an aversion to giving the crew any power ups lately

That’s fair. In that case, what about Usopp? I think he could be an absolute unit if he was able to be more confident than in story

So a rehash of the anime? That's a bit redundant don't you think? Also, Luffy is already quite powerful throughout the story. I would rather explore different characters or settings in One Piece tbh

I see the need to for both Sasuke and Itachi have their own plots and baggage. A sister, on the other hand, allows me more leeway to write my plot and through a curveball in the Self-Insert's belief of his knowledge of the plot

I don’t see why the need for an older sister of Sasuke. Seems unnecessary. Either gender bend itachi, Saskue, or just use a different character. I don’t see the point of the extra sister.
