1. Yes :D 2. That would be nearly impossible, but if it were to happen those that have been redeemed would become wylder/fair folk again. Those who haven't would become vampires in much the same way they did the first time. Which is to say, a select group of them would be chosen to become master vampires and "create a community" as it were. 3. Yes, through alchemical or ritualistic means, though the pact is necessary in most cases (not in the case of the ritual mentioned in this chapter, though). The mortal must grant the corrupted fae permission to use their body. The only exception is when that body is created through procreation or by the higher ones specifically for the corrupted fae to inhabit. The bodies created by the higher ones are adult, allowing the corrupted fae to retain their memories.

TYFTC! Very interesting lore dump, and the Duke’s use of augmentations to raise himself over the other vampire dukes. I would expect him to re-do his rituals if given the chance, although he would need to make sure he can stay away from the Master Vampire. Let’s see how the battles with the fae will play out, those are some interesting tactics for preventing large scale carnage. Now all the Fae need to do is ‘challenge’ all of them in a ‘mass duel’ or something.

So Vampires are Fey removed from the cycle of reincarnation and instead put into a different cycle that requires infecting mortals? What would happen if every vampire was truly hunted down then? Can vampires be made in other ways, or does a mortal need to be bit by a “living” vampire for one waiting to be reborn to come through? And then presumably they also have their minds wiped so they can become a copy of the mortal they inhabit, rather than normal Fey who likely keep their memories through rebirth. Honestly I’m still kinda leaning towards them being effectively AI that can take over peoples bodies, and the Curaguard just removes that AI’s ability to form it’s own body if they sin, meaning they need to take over an existing body to live again. And these enslaved Fey/mortal beings are probably the result of two incompatible intelligences basically wiping each other out, leaving behind a husk that just obeys orders

"Whether the kill is accidental or intentional, the punishment is the same." - This is an inspired way to make Vampires truly evil (instead of the modern day emo variety) but still leave an out for Ms. Professor Vampire (whose name I can't recall right now).
