Michele is a painter and set designer at the Opera House in Rome. He lives on the top floor of a building in a working-class area of the city. Every Sunday, Michele's extended family has parties on the terrace. They are all uninhibited, but sometimes they fear speaking about their feelings. One day Michele meets Massimo in a bookstore, looking for the same book. It's love at first sight. Massimo finds a new family in Michele, but a tragic event reveals a hidden truth. Can you still love someone that has another life and another family?
