At the weird evangelical grade school I went to, one of the junior high history teachers invented his own collectible card game (so we wouldn’t play Pokémon cards, which it had been determined were satanic), and of course the one kid whose dad was an investment banker started running an arbitrage trade between the collectible cards and the fungible currency the teachers used for student awards, which spun wildly out of control, and the history teacher had to invent a replacement game for the following school year. This was in like 1998, I think?
