a cousin of this would have to be the 'ventrilo harrassment' clips on youtube. the anonymous creator 'videocompiler' would also use audio equipment to take samples of the prank victims in order to play back to the ventrilo, do looping and pitch-shifting, and even made songs out of them to play back a short time later.

These seem to have directly inspired the prank calls that videogamedunkey did on YouTube. Those are exactly this style of call, committing to nonsense bits, using Skype to connect two restaurants together, etc. Very cool to find this connection

The kabukers were wondering if longmont was the earliest example of prank calling — definitely not. Wolfman Jack was already doing them on his radio show back in the 60s. However, Longmont is still the michael jordan of the game.
