New Y linear rail upgrade - MGN12H
🕑 Added 2023-12-29 05:05:03 +0000 UTCSingle piece easy print, the old one isn't bad in anyway, but I think this is a bit easier to install, plus looks better. If you are coming from my old design, same M5, nothing new. but no reason to upgrade from my old design, unless you just feel like it.
- (8) Eight M3x6 for the linear rail carriage
- (4) four M5x12 For the bed mount (those are not the same as stock screws, reason for shorter screws is to keep as much Z, longer screws will hit the rail)
- reuse stock M5 lock nuts
- pre-screw the nuts and M5 screws into the block, so that they don't fall off, and lined up correctly.
- place it on top of the two rail carriage
- tighten the MGN12H blocks with the M3x6 screws
- test the rails smoothness - if the rail are not well aligned and parallel with one another, untighten one rail a tiny bit, slide the platform over from one end to the other, and back, so that the rail can readjust itself, then secure that end screw, slide the block to the other end, and secure the last screw, test the smoothness, if all good, secure all the rails screws, if not try doing the other rail instead.
- remove the M5 screw gently
- place the bed platform on top, and secure with those M5
- rebuild the bed
This is tested to be compatible with my Y tensioner on Ender3pro/2, and gain the extra 10mm
On ender3v2 compatible with stock enstop (the size matches the wheel), not sure about ender3pro
And should likely work with newer ender3 series printer that have a 4040 Y extrusion profile.
Not compatible with ender3 (as the Y extrusion is 4020 inserted of 4040)
This will be integrated into the Apollo files reorganized, or a separate printer upgrade zip
in the meantime it's here
