Upcoming Patreon Changes & Ashe Plans
🕑 Added 2023-02-28 22:22:55 +0000 UTCI'm nearly ready to update my Patreon with new art and perks, hopefully within the next few days, and I want to go into detail about how the new perks will work as well as what my plans are for finishing the 1.0 version of my Ashe game.
Patreon Changes
My decision to rework my Patreon primarily stemmed from anxiety about the $30 tier, which enables Patrons to request minor features and options in my games. I thought it was a cool perk to offer at the time, and to be fair I haven't had any issues with it so far, but the possibility of having my workflow derailed by requests that I'm not prepared for had me questioning its worth.
As part of my rework, I'm hiding the $30 tier from my page. Anyone currently pledged to it will remain pledged to it and I'll still honor it for them or anyone that has pledged to it previously but never made a request.
I still want to provide a worthwhile perk for those that want to support me more, so I'm experimenting with adding a new perk to the $10+ tiers: game testing!
How Game Testing Works
The game testing perk will give you a link and password to the private page that I use to test the game myself, so you can play work-in-progress builds and give feedback during the development process. The link and password will last until whatever project I'm working on is released (in this case, Ashe 1.0), so you'll only need to pledge once per project for testing. Supernova patrons will have permanent access to game testing.
Whenever someone pledges to the tier while I'm in-between game projects, or when it's too early for a game to be testable, they'll receive a link to a placeholder page that I will update when it's ready to be tested.
I'm specifically calling this "game testing" and not early access or something to set expectations about the state that the game might be in. The Ashe game is in a pretty good playable state so far, but future updates or games might not be so far along when testing starts. I'll be updating the testing page every time I have something new in place, so you'll be able to try new things in real time. Any feedback, questions, or suggestions that you have can be shared in an exclusive channel on my new Discord server!
Discord Server
I've long wanted an easier way to interact with my supporters and share smaller updates since I don't use Twitter too much and Patreon isn't great for sharing videos or back-and-forth discussion. I've thought about making a Discord server for a long time but never felt like I had a good reason to until recently. I intend for the server to be public but all Patrons will have access to an exclusive WIP channel where I share smaller updates and discussions about my projects.
Ashe Plans
I'm back to focusing fully on my Ashe game, which I admittedly haven't been able to do since November. There's still some tweaking to be do but pretty much all of the main functionality of the cowgirl scene is done and now I'm deciding where to go from here. I originally pitched the game as launching with a cowgirl scene and a double blowjob/handjob scene, but now I'm thinking that isn't too feasible if I want to get the game released within a reasonable timeframe. I've been getting better at making scenes, but that's being counterbalanced by my scenes becoming more feature-dense, so they still take a long time to finish.
My plan for now is to instead postpone the double BJ/HJ scene to the 2.0 update and go all-in on features for the cowgirl scene for the 1.0 release. Most notably, I'm planning on adding the ability to flip Ashe around in the cowgirl scene, so you can choose between cowgirl or reverse cowgirl. This will still take a lot of work to pull off since I'll need to make entirely new assets and animations for Ashe, but it'll spare me from needing to also make a totally separate batch of partner assets, controls, and background art.
Focusing solely on the cowgirl scene for the 1.0 version will allow me to give a similar amount care to the double BJ/HJ scene for the 2.0 update, so I think this is the better path to take for the game instead of trying to divide my attention between the two completely different scenes. This also means that the Ashe game is very likely to have a 3.0 update as well, but it's too soon for me to discuss the details that far down the line.
Thanks so much for your support so far!
