On Bourgeois Catastrophism - Red Star Daily #16
🕑 Added 2022-11-04 00:02:37 +0000 UTCIn this episode of the Red Star bulletin I look at the latest news from Ukraine, the developments in Iran and the threats of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I then look at the confused world of the MMT theorists and conclude with a consideration of the role of bourgeois catastrophism in the covid hysteria.

With regard to the COVID hysteria, I recommend Scott Atlas' "A Plague Upon Our House" and Alex Berenson's "Pandemia," which both present good summaries of the evolving state of knowledge in the early days of the pandemic. Their accounts, at any rate, make it sound like there were good grounds for being skeptical of the catastrophist narrative right from the beginning (i.e. before Ioannidis' April article on fatality rates), but the hysteria fuelled by the various key players made it extremely difficult to take a critical attitude towards what was going on.
