This was a good interview, looking forward to part 2. I did want to push back on the characterization of the US political landscape. On Trump, I think the anti-war point is made in contrast to Biden in the context of his tension with the foreign policy bureaucracy. A better version of the Trump-supporters' argument is that Russiagate, the first impeachment, etc., were meant as a means to discipline him into supporting the dominant foreign policy factions, as expressed through both parties. And on the current state of the Republican party, I think there is more dynamism than Michael suggests between MAGA and the establishment. A handful, such as MTG and Thomas Massie, have been vocally against US support of Ukraine and voted against the recent lend lease bill. Granted, there are issues with the America First idea, but the entire Republican party isn't as lockstep as the Democrats, where even the typically anti-war faction is in full support of US foreign policy in Ukraine.
