Please do more of these! Although I don't use Superior Drummer the techniques can all translate. I am using Melda's mDrummer and I absolutely love it. Have you tried that one? It's got this killer rhythm engine and drum synths you can layer up with the acoustic kits. I'm particularly fond of the random sound/pattern generators. It's brilliant!

Very nice tutorial again. Definitely part 2 of that episode would be awesome. For example, how would you edit/process those breaks further (that were made with SD3) and how to combine them with synthetic layers. Also, maybe some tips when pushing the drums as loud as possible (how to have loud and heavy drums without squashing the low end for example)

Now, where's the button that I can press to like this again? Awesome stuff! Just bought AD2 and this translates very well on that too! More things like this please!

I guess the decision to layer synth drums is track/mix dependant. Do you keep SD3 and the processing live whilst designing other elements in the track. Or commit to a final bounce of drums and use that to dictate the mix and placement of the other instruments? I guess you don't have the CPU limitations I do ☺️

Nik, thank you so much for this video. When you make breaks, do you generally also add a main kick &amp; snare over top of these breaks and just cut out/sidechain the break drums when you write? I just got SD3 for Christmas and I'm totally hooked (am also a drummer).

Thanks for this extensive tutorial on drum design. Been a fond user of Addictive Drums 2, but SD3 looks hella fun. Especially because of the routing and bigger collection of drum hits. I feel like AD2 is more limited but can also get you interesting results. Have you ever tried AD2? Also, would love to hear a follow-up on this tutorial, especially on the creative processing side of things.
