Here I am, hot choco in hand, wrapped in a fleece blanket, all set to watch a heartwarming Christmas movie… but plot twist: I’m watching this.

My favorite album!!! I HADDDDD to become a patreon member to hear FL Kilos with yall, I feel like it’s a good “dad song” like something I’d play to put him on to Lana. Honeymoon gives James Bond vibes, excited for that one to come! I’m also so glad you picked up on the fact she sampled her own song (F*cked my way up to the top) in another song earlier in the album (UV) so glad you guys loved it as much as you do<3

Would love to see you two dive into some Paramore sometime, if you haven’t before!

and the jim jones references alluding to be held captive but loving it regardless - crazy

okay I hope you read this because Fun Fact that I could write a dissertation on: Lana's albums until Norman Fucking Rockwell are all inspired by the depiction of women in literature through the decades. She was criticized very early on for how she portrayed being a woman and she really leaned into it with a "oh you don't like this type of womanhood? You wrote it and devoured it in literature since the 20s" It takes so much intelligence and attention to pull off projects like that and I think that's why moving through her albums in order is so moving because you see that progression until Lust for Life which is when we get to a type of freedom and liberation that is the 70s (excited for when you get there!) And going from Lust for Life to Norman Fucking Rockwell where she's "free" from the ideal characterization and shows vulnerability from her OWN life rather than playing a character?? chef's kiss honestly

Also this album has another deluxe track called Flipside (which is one of my favourites of her) but somehow is only available on target special edition releases of the album and the Japanese iTunes deluxe version

Actually in Brooklyn baby it was supposed to be Lou Reed singing with Lana but he died before they could meet, and the other woman is a cover of a song by Nina Simone

I’ve been listening to Lana since 2012, Ultraviolence is my favorite album. The rock influences and lyrics are top notch. I love your commentary on the lyrically heavy topics that are sonically beautiful.. Lana does this in a lot of her albums but Ultraviolence just hits different. If you haven’t listened to it yet, I recommend Honeymoon next. Kinda psychedelic like this album but less rock heavy and more cinematic and haunting
