Album of the year 🏆 It’s so damn good, literally no skips. I appreciated Renaissance, but don’t revisit it aside from like 2 songs on occasion. But Cowboy Carter…yeemotherfuckinhaw 🤠👏🏼

y’all are making me chuckle about beyonce’s age talking like she’s 70 years old 😂 she’s 42 y’all!!! in all seriousness (i’m a voice teacher and have 2 degrees in singing), women’s vocal folds don’t fully mature really until their late 20’s, early 30’s… most female singers (if they are consistent with their singing + keep their voice in shape) reach vocal peak from mid 30s-50’s! so beyoncé is right in the middle of her vocal prime! thanks for the reaction—enjoyed it thoroughly!

When I heard the line “I first saw your face in your father’s gaze” what it made me think of is how I see my husband in my boys’ faces. And when I first met their dad 22 years ago I had no idea I was seeing a glimpse of my future children’s’ faces. There’s something so sacred about that. I like that there are different ways to interpret that line and they’re all beautiful!

Spagetthi there’s definitely some Brazilian funk influence. When I heard for the first time (as a Brazilian) I was like: no way what the fuck! 😆 and she already performed some Brazilian funk songs in Brazil before so yeah, I would say it’s a good guess. This is my favorite album of 2024 so far!!! ❤️

Btw the part on Daughter y’all were questioning the origin of … it’s an Italian Baroque opera piece. There’s a couple other baroque influences on this album (the composition of my rose, the strings on spaghetti). And if you didn’t know …. The Baroque era came after what? The Renaissance era 😏 (Baroque era was kind of a rebellion to the Renaissance period. It went against the structure of the previous style, which was more restrained and refined, where Baroque was more emotional)

American Requiiem just puts me right in that audience at the CMAs and how awful Beyoncé must have felt - artists walked out, talked during it, stayed seated, rolled their eyes, barely cheered. It was so disgusting to watch. And it’s such a great lib performance, with The Chicks even! And they got so disrespected.

Cowboy Carter REALLY needs to win AOTY. She more than should’ve won for Lemonade, but if this doesn’t win I’ll be so crushed. Billie is a close second. Kacey’s album should be nominated as well (if you haven’t heard that I’d love a reaction! Deeper Well). And TTPD, I just wish the main album was The Anthology because I think that deserves to be in the convo for sure, but the main album I don’t think competes with Cowboy Carter or HMHAS.

I think Act III will be a rock influenced album. She started the trilogy right after completing Lemonade and is hitting each of the genres she played with in Lemonade, house/reggaeton, country, and rock. All genres started and innovated by Black artists who history tends to forget, and they are all thought of as “white” genres now. She’s reclaiming them and paying homage to the original creators! I loved that part of the Renaissance Film where she talks about the history and giving flowers to those artists. 💛💛
