How to take your Performance to the Next Level
🕑 Added 2018-03-31 03:15:22 +0000 UTC Here's one that's the result of a LOT of people asking me for my opinion on the best way for them to learn how to play an instrument.
I can't tell you how many times I've had someone message me with "hey, do you have any tips for teaching yourself X instrument"
And the alternative to this video would have been me talking about friends of mine who were hurt because they started to develop improper practice techniques without realizing it.
I know one girl who ended up losing most of the feeling in her left hand from not being careful when playing the violin.
I know another girl who suffered permanent nerve damage in her entire right arm from practicing piano with too much tension.
One of my best friends in college detached one of his back muscles from all of the tension he was carrying while he was practicing for his recital, he ended up having to push back his graduation date.
So instead of that, I figured I could go in a more positive route and talk about how to have the best performance of your life, instead of how to cause irreversible damage while not being careful with something that is fundamentally an athletic endeavor.
