It's yet another week that has been all about the music, I'm afraid. The track I've been working on is still not done, though it's so close that we're talking only hours of additional work before I can wrap it up. The track is complete from beginning to end, needing only a little bit of polish for the transitions before I can mix and master it.
If there's one thing I've learned (or re-learned, anyway) since I started working on the soundtrack for Supermodel, it's that making music is a time-consuming process. Like with all art, you could work on a piece for ages and never be fully happy with it, so it's all about finding that perfect moment when it's good enough instead of perfect. I'm almost at the good enough stage now. This particular track has a lot of fiddly parts that require considerable detail work, especially because it contains brass instruments that I have to carefully program to sound realistic. It's not an easy job, let me assure you.
And yet, it's almost done. Just a few more tweaks...
Once this is done, I'm moving directly into scenario design for Supermodel Snapshot. July will be all about getting Snapshot 2.0 out there since I don't want it to slip into August. I want this to be the month you get to play the fruits of my labors, but that will require dedication. Still, scenario design is the big missing feature in this update, and compared to the already implemented features, it's a relatively insignificant one. Beyond that, the remainder of the work is mostly about designing the user interface for the new features.
We're getting so close! I'm bouncing in my seat with anticipation for when I can finally pull the trigger on this update and move on to the full Supermodel: Defenders of Desire.
Until next time!
