The music is finished! It's just two tracks, but considering how long it's been since I used to make music regularly, it's no wonder it took me a while to get "warm" again. As I worked on these tracks, my confidence and abilities snowballed, so I'm brimming with inspiration for other music right now.
One thing worth noting about this music is that it's not really representative of what you will hear in the full game of Supermodel. Supermodel Snapshot, the card game standalone you will soon get your hands on, features upbeat, energetic electronica, which is the kind of mood I want every time you pop into the card game mechanics. In the visual novel, however, you will hear a wide variety of genres, primarily dark and broody ones with the occasional bright spot. The contrast is important to me and my vision, but it won't be audible in this initial release. Trust me when I say this isn't the only type of music I can make.
Anyway, with the music done, that leaves precious little work before Supermodel Snapshot is ready for release. In fact, I'm implementing all the missing stuff simultaneously. This includes sound effects, an improved main menu, and a tutorial. All of these are already partially implemented. I'm also adding a brief preview of the full game, but it's mostly just going to be the character previews you've all seen already (and if you haven't, check the post archive).
A February release is looking very likely at this point, though I don't want to promise anything yet. I won't be able to work on the game next weekend, but apart from that, it's full steam ahead for me.
Until next time!
