Side Dish: Podcast or K-Pop Stuff??
🕑 Added 2023-01-20 17:20:11 +0000 UTCOof! Hey friends! Remember when I started a podcast?
AAAAAANYWAY, let's just watch k-pop dances!! 🤷🏿♀️ haha
This podcast space took me sooooo long to finally muster up the courage and the executive function to get started... and then I got sick, I got EXTREMELY busy, I got burnt out. And I still haven't fully recovered (physically, mentally or emotionally).
And that is the honest truth. Let's put it all on the plate.
I have not had the motivation to keep doing anything, really. It all feels stressful, overwhelming & ultimately fruitless. There's a battle in my head of "of course nothing is coming to you, cuz you aren't doing any work" and "no, the work won't matter; you're still stuck."
It isn't an easy place to be but I know I am not alone. Many people I've spoken to have expressed similar struggles lately. I think most of the world has honestly not processed the collective trauma we experienced in the last 2 years and it is catching up to us.
I do still plan to restart the podcast and this will be the space where that happens. BUT, in the meantime, I am working on creating a new path for myself and re-igniting my own motivation.
If you are here, chances are you know RiVerse and you've witnessed the most recent chapter of our journey. If not, I am one part of a pop/r&b quartet and we have recently taken a hiatus. The biggest reason for that is our lead sister (that's a typo, but also accurate so I'm leaving it... we're a band, but we're also family) is currently battling cancer and we are taking time to let her focus on treatment and healing. But it was also a good lightbulb moment for all of us to realize we need to slow down and do our own forms of healing.
One of the biggest challenges in creating my own social media pages, podcast, etc. is that for so many years, my career has been completely co-dependent on 3 other people. I will ALWAYS be a member of RiVerse, but I am also an individual. I have my own thoughts, ideas, passions, and skills to share with the world and because our group "hasn't made it yet," I found myself justifying never stepping out and doing anything on my own. But this period is also a big push for me to finally do the thing.
I am still working through what that will look like, but in the meantime, I still find a lot of joy in exploring and sharing k-pop content with our iV League audience! So I'm gonna keep doing those reactions on my own for now and I will share them in this space. When I get back to the podcast, it will still be shared here, but I'll also share the Korean content here cuz it's also a big part of what makes me who I am!!!
So... I guess that's that. Look out for some dance practice reactions & Stray Kids stuff soon lol.
Thanks for allowing me to create space to be messy & lost. I appreciate anyone who is here!
