Side Dish: Not Doing The Things (But Doing a HUGE Thing)
🕑 Added 2022-05-03 16:12:16 +0000 UTCIt has been a LONG couple of weeks and I have not posted a new episode or anything here in the blog. The episode I'm about to share touches on this a bit, but if you are reading this today I suggest you Google the term "Executive Dysfunction" or "Executive Function Disorder." (Haha, just kidding, I know how it is... I did it for you. Just click the link.)
It's a REALLLL thing and it's very frustrating and stressful at times.
And it has been kicking my ass the last few weeks.
I'm gonna share something here that is still a secret to the general public. But because I appreciate the handful of you who have been supporting me as I create this new podcast, I want to share with you now:
rIVerse is traveling to Los Angeles in a couple weeks. We are planning to be out there for a month, but are definitely open to staying longer if things go well and opportunities present themselves. Part of our mentality is kind of like... we may never come back, after this. Not full-time, anyway. I have a child, I personally can't just up and move forever. But... it's time for us to make a move in our career that will help us get to the next stage and connect with the right people, take advantage of the right opportunities, etc. And being in the heart of the entertainment industry is a great first step to do that.
But, of course, with a huge step like this comes LOTS of change, lots of preparation, lots of planning, lots of adjusting, and lots of wildly varying emotions. From EVERYONE involved or impacted, in any way. Even if these things aren't bad, they are just a lot to process.
If you've been paying attention through the first few episodes of my podcast, I have a hard time managing my own emotions. I'm really, really trying to get a better handle on how to manage the emotions of people around me, especially after being isolated for 2 years.
I feel like I'm running at top speed, on an empty tank, all the time right now. Even as I prioritize rest and give myself time to "do nothing," I don't feel myself relaxing because I know once I get moving again, it's all still just there.
Creating this platform is actually super helpful and I've been drafting up blog posts and episode scripts that have been allowing me to really zone in on what is most important to me. It helps me feel grounded.
So even though I haven't been posting, I'm still so grateful to this space and to those of you who are here with me, following this journey. I think I'll be blogging a lot of our LA experience, both for posterity and because this is a really interesting journey both for rIVerse as artists and for me as an individual, so I want to share it.
I hope you enjoy coming along with me!!
