Monster Painting, Time, and Friendship
🕑 Added 2024-05-01 06:55:08 +0000 UTCFor my Monster submission I'm trying to paint this little sculpture I did a few months ago.
I started last night. I was so exhausted I was really struggling with it. But I think It's better than I thought it was. It will come together. Or I'll do something else!
Happy April 30th everybody
My good friend Mike Bloch is moving across the country on Thursday.
I wrote him this card below in a Christmas card I made and didn't use.
We went and got Korean BBQ with my friend Jake. We wanted to go to Dinah's but they closed down for good yesterday. We wanted to go to Submariner but they closed early today.
While we were at dinner we talked about how Dinah's Diner closed, how Jake thought he was super old when he turned 30 10 years ago and another one of our friend's health problems.
We quoted from step brothers, dumb and dumber and Portlandia.
We were wondering why the restaurant was out of so many things. On the way out we learned that they were closing. We literally ate the last of their brisket ever.
We drove Mike back to his apartment listening to the Dark Side of the Moon CD that Jake bought for 1 dollar in flint Michigan and never takes out of his car.
We used to make little tent forts in our room out of sheets and chairs and hotbox it while listening to Dark Side of the Moon on an old record player I had.
I hugged Mike goodbye and watched him get smaller and smaller in the rear mirror while Roger Waters was singing:
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
I listened to the album again on my way home and thought about Mike and Jake and all of my friends I've ever had. Current and former. I thought about how many times I've driven the length of the 105 freeway to get to the west side from the east side to see my friends.
I took a long look at the Los Angeles skyline from the overpass that connects the 405 and the 105 freeway.
I can't think of anything to say except laughing is nice
Have Fun
Goodnight Sweeties
