Some quick notes addressing Build 5
🕑 Added 2024-07-01 18:53:35 +0000 UTCHello, everyone! Hope you're doing well :3.
So I want to discuss the review copy I just dropped. Yesterday, my brain was absolutely fried after coding for 10 hours straight. But I slept, feel refreshed, and I can better articulate my gameplan with the review copy for build 5 going forward.
Quick refresher for folks who are new, the review copy is an early-access version of Chord Progressions you can play today. This is for Lydian and Mixolydian tiers only.
So, as you may have seen (assuming you haven't already read it) this review copy is not in a great state. The writing still needs some polish, the sprite placements need work, and the sound design is in it's very early stages (I don't even have music playing for half of it).
I wanted to get a review copy out before July and I did it with about 20 minutes to spare 😅. I really wish that wasn't how things panned out, but it is what it is.
Ultimately, I am the bottleneck in this whole operation. The writing got delayed more than I would have liked and that delayed the coding. My team, on the other hand, has been doing an amazing job staying on track. I've had all the assets I've needed for weeks. To support the project (and to put food on my table) I've been picking up extra shifts for my second job, so things have been moving along slower than I would like.
I will be issuing an updated version of the review copy sometime in mid-July. The script, sprite placements, and sound design will be much cleaner.
I also want to clarify, when I talk about "polishing" the script, I just mean sentence structure, spelling, grammar, etc. The story beats will remain completely intact.
On Saturday, I gave all my voice actors their new assignments, so I'm not optimistic I'll have those back by the time the new review copy drops. I like to give my VA's plenty of time to record and I don't want to rush them simply because I couldn't keep a tight enough schedule.
So, if you're looking for the full ChoPro experience, I would recommend waiting for the updated review copy, or just wait for the Patreon release.
The game is in a state where I can certainly release by the end of July for a full Patreon release, which puts the public release sometime in August, most likely.
I hope this clears up any questions or concerns. If not, you're welcome to leave a comment or DM.
Thank you all so much for the love and support 💖💖💖

I love it when creators are transparent with their audience like this
