Finally out of the mire.
🕑 Added 2022-05-01 18:29:56 +0000 UTCI finally finished that large giant chunk of content that makes up most of the last chapter. I ended up writing over twenty pages of just plain NPC's you can sprinkle into your campaigns. I'm finally done with making NPC's so I can start making...more npcs.
I kid, I'm finally out of filling out templates however and the rest of the content is pretty easy to make. And probably not 20 more pages of the same task what ever muse rules over tabletop permitting.
I probably would have the chapter done already if it wasn't for two major interruptions, one of which I had control over and one of which I did not.
The one I do have control over is ff14. Sorry.
I picked it up because some folks said they'd play with me. (I'm Waya'a Tarocco over on crystal if you want to play too.) But it's really helped me have a better work/life balance because now I have tasks outside of work. I like playing healers and enabling other folk to do their best (while grumbling very bitterly about tanks pulling too much) and the current goal is to unlock Astro.
The one I don't is Elon Musks' dumb ass trying to buy twitter. Egocentric techbros with more money than sense, who in their pursuit of being the most divorced man on twitter do anything to be liked other than being a better person fucking it up for the rest of us. Even if his silly putty lookin' ass does nothing or even backs out of the deal, that announcement means there is going to be a lot less eyes on my shit. Which means I have to spend time making and building a presence on other platforms.
My bad on that one. But it means I'm building assets for a twitch page and working on tumblr stuff, which probably means more content for you in the long run. But it's a pile of work I didn't have before and still pisses me off because twitter is the most successful I've ever been on social media and where I've gotten every big break or opportunity I've needed. Every job, almost every podcast, most of my sales...It's frustrating to say the least. Especially considering a healthy amount of that work has been being vocal about indigenous rights and getting abused for it.
This month's previews are showing off more locations in Reedsboro.
Amenities
Reedsboro wouldn’t have half the shit it does if it wasn’t for the tourist. Most everything here is in on behave of and in service of the tourist dollar. It’d be a one gas station town with out it, instead it’s a 3 gas station town and most everything is bunched up near the beach. And the closer you are to the beach the higher the prices.

Name: The Breezesweet Motel
Description: The Breezesweet motel looms over the worn pavement of it’s parking lot like a turquoise guard dog despite it’s small two story size. The neon vacancy sign cast shadows over a dandelion that grew out of the cracks. An empty pool sits behind a white picket fence. It was the sort of place you could smell the must and dust in before you even enter a room. Sweet shelter for travelers and vacationers alike.

-Paul Finner (motel owner, you’ll never beat him at trivia, frames completed crossword puzzles.)
-Gina Lee (Sex Worker and puppeteer)

Plot Seeds:
-There is a room, that, at night, will transport you to July 12, 1964 as long as you remain inside the room. What does the room want you to see?
-The static of the tv whispers for those who linger on it to touch it. What is media planning?
-The pool fills with a mysterious substance with the consistency of jello made of soy sauce. All that eat it have prophetic visions of the future and an intense uncontrollable ecstasy that last four hours and makes your nerves feel on fire.

Name: Reedsboro Elementary School
Description: Reedsboro Elementary School was a collection of red brick buildings with tin rooves. The sort that roar in the rain and give off waves of heat in the sun. The insides were all tiled ceilings, florescent lights, and outdated books and furniture. This school was built to be two things, durable and cheap.

Plot Seeds:
- A group of “concerned parents” are trying to pressure the parents of geno kids to find a different school that can “support their needs better” concern-trolling to provide cover for their own paranoid bigotry. Others are being less subtle.
-Something is weird about the school lunch. Everyone craves the special jello.
-The playground equipment is growing on it’s own.

Name: Reedsboro High School
Description: Reedsboro High School is actually two separate complexes, a middle and high school, split by a road and an overly large crosswalk. Middle school on one side and high school on the other. Technically they are two different schools with their own staff and administration, but the town just sort of lumps the red brick and steel roofed campuses together collectively given they use to be one institution until about 15 years ago.
Locals:
-Terrance Willis (Hardass vice principle, tries to do the best by his students despite this, struggling with keeping kids out of a school-to-prison pipeline when everyone around him are willing to throw kids into the machine)
-Teachers
-The Teens
Plot Seeds:
-PTA wants to take advantage of funds from Mutants Speaks for the sake of supporting geno. But the way the funds are being put to use aren’t exactly helpful. They’re meant for things like mutation supression collars or other things more about making genotypical folk feel comforted. What do you do?
-Prom is tomorrow, but a kid radicalized online by Brotherhood of Humanitas plans an act of violence.
-Aliens looking to harvest something from the humans in the small town, and you’re the only ones who can do anything about it. One problem. They’re teachers.

Name: Reedsboro Public Library
Description: Reedsboropublic library is a humble building all things considered. Reedsboro’s library was one of those box kit houses shipped out on trucks and connected together on top of stilts. A little wooden ramp lead up to the building. Acramped and muggy building stuffed to the brim with books at every opportunity, smelling of must and some lady in the next row over’s perfume. Despite it’s appearances, the library does it’s best to make things accessible with ebook libraries, audiobooks, and inter-library loans.

-Lang Poe (emotionally powered werewolf geno, psychic, librarian)
-Fern Tempe (Head librarian, breeds pit bulls)

Plot Seeds:
-While sorting through book, Lang sees a vision of a future yet to be and needs your help to stop it.
-someone is leaving love notes for Ms. Fern in the stacks and she wants you to find out who (if only to talk them out of such nonsense)
-Recently some folk have been using the library as a safe place to hide out from harassment and it’s been escalating in a way the librarians are not comfortable with and need some help.

Name: Food Puma
Description:
Set right along the main road, Food Puma is the grocery store most folk in town use no matter which side of the tracks they’re on. A sterile if colorful collection of 16 aisles where 15 year old pop music play, occasionally interrupted by the buzzy intercom announcement or the sound of thunder to announce the vegetables are about to be misted. Moms block off aisle as they chatted and talked about the latest gossip. A colorful collection of coin operated rides (a puma in stockboy apron with tired eyes, a Vietnam-era helicopter with a smily face and clown colors, and a shark driving a taxi submarine) sit in perfect condition, unphased by weather and impossible to date.

-Scout O’Donnel (cashier, has a metal plate in their head that allows them to pick up radio signals)

Plot Seeds:
- The mascots on the food have come to life and committing armed robbery against everyone in the store. Who is beyond this?
-As food prices go up and without a lot of food options (the Hoggle Woggly, the only alternative, jacks up the price the closer you get to the coast.) food insecurity becomes a real issue. How can you solve this in your community? Who gets access?
-Rumor has it at midnight, if you ride the coin operated puma outside, he’ll give you the initials of your true love. But the last person that tried it disappeared.

Name: The Captain’s Quarters
Description: The Captain’s Quarters is a maritime themed tourist bar in the historic shopping district. The second story of a newer building on stilts and with a big balcony overlooking the sea. On the inside ships in bottles and collections of framed sailor knots hang from the wall, lit by the warm dim glow of lights that dangled from the ceiling while an unholy mix of tinkly jazz made for and white folk and margerittaville’s finest played in muted tones, filling the room like the smoke of a cheap cigar.
Locals:
-The Captain (no one remembers his real name, has a tendency to dance while making a point)
- Edith Tannille (endless fount of salacious showbiz stories, neither her or the Captain know “Love Will Keep Us Together”)
- Tourist drunks
Plot Seeds:
- Every full moon a pure white dolphin will sit in the water, staring up at the balcony.
-There is a ship in the bottle that if you look at it while the right song is playing, you can swear there are people inside.
-A man sits in the corner, crying that a sea witch stole his heart. He has no pulse.

Name: Flotsam and Jetsam
Description: Tucked in a corner behind the grocery store, Floatsam and Jetsam is the bar for locals. An ex-poolhall with decades of cigarette smoke baked into the wood. Tables older than most of the patrons sat in the back. Heavy enough never to nudge when being leaned on and hand-crafted. Carved initials of long forgotten challengers scattered over it’s legs and underside like dried gum. Racks of sticks filled offered a disjointed guide through the decades, broken up by arcade machines homing with the warm buzz of a crt. A big dog who looked like it was made of dirt and just about as old slept in the corner. The only indication of the dogbeing alive was every now and then it raised it’s head to look at a passerby as they headed towards one of the many rocking chairs on the porch.

-Big Mike Twitty (Bartender, dropped out of school where he was getting a degree in spider biology to take care of father)
-Sam Hannigan (proud grandparent of 4, inventor of something called the “sausage hurricane”)

Plot Seeds:
-Seeing that his father is getting on in years, Big Mike has been trying to make a cookbook of all his dad’s old recipes, but one of these recipes holds the keys to an old dark secret and Big Mike needs your help getting to the bottom of it.
-A mysterious stranger has offered to grant you a wish, provided you can beat him at pool. But this is like no game of pool you’ve ever played before.
-There is a rumor of someone paying good money for data on geno powers. A tempting offer when the job market isn’t very promising. What sinister ulterior motive is this subsidy of Carver technology planning?

Name: Glinda’s
Description: Glinda’s is a hole in the wall diner in the truest sense, a small 5table establishment and a counter tucked between two buildings in the Historic Shopping District. It had all the markings of a classic diner, the flat grill top, the greasy food that you spend days thinking about for all the right reasons, and a rainbow colored jukebox in the corner. What it did have that most diner’s is the dark wooded floors that creak with every step and made you wonder why it hasn’t gone up in flames and a collection of Wizard of Oz memorabilia lining the wall on nails, shelves, and cases. Most greasy spoon diners didn’t have a line down the block. That was a new addition after Glinda’s was featured on a cableshow that featured hole-in-the-wall eateries, as a sign with a blond man in sunglasses and flaming Hawaiian shirt proudly proclaimed.
Locals:
-Glinda Guzzy (owner of the Diner)
-Dillon Guzzy (son, works in the diner, amateur ghosthunter, has the common sense)
-Hungry tourist families
Plot Seeds:
-After finding success and an appearance on national cable, a venture capitalist has offered the Guzzy family a chance to franchise. But is it too good to be true?
-It’s time for the Shrimp Festival and many entries want to wall out amateur cooks from the competition. The only defender seems to be Glinda. What do you do?
-A record in the jukebox holds a sad story about the past of one of the town’s citizens, something unresolved.

Name: Golden Tiger
Description: The Golden Tiger is probably the best kept local secret in all of Reedsboro. A little Chinese food restaurant off to the side of the grocery store and open late into the night. You know it’s good because the yellowed plastic of the menu hasn’t changed from the 80’s. The steam and sizzle of vegetables makes asensory experience that seemed to start from the top of your head and filled your stomach with warmth. An iron spike with orders sits on top of a plastic top counter polished and clean to a hospital standard. A battered calendar with nature scenes and endless frames of a family covered one wall and people who came to be called family on the other.
Locals:
-Grandma Huang (Matriarch, use to be a local circuit stand-up comic in the 80’s. Food pays better.)
-Elliot Huang (delivery driver, oldest grandson, Dillon’s best friend and ghosthunting partner, has the plans)
-Traveling comedians
Plot Seeds:
-Someone stole grandma’s “recipe box” and there is a heist to get it back. What secrets are in the box and who plotted to steal it?
-Hyper-intelligent coyotes have been organizing behind the building and stealing supplies from the grocery story, Golden Tiger, and the bar. What are they planning and where did they come from?
-For a long time, The Golden Tiger has offered a refuge and support for poc and/or jewish folk in the surrounding area either as a point of organization, a community bulletin, or fellowship and aid. What happens when they need help or go through a tragedy in turn?

Name: Taco Box
Description: The only fast food restaurant in Reedsboro sat on the only road going in and out of town. A pink neon hued building of seafoam and brown. The food wasn’t great but when you worked the late shift or were someone with nothing else to do, sometimes it it hit just the right spot. There’s no food like drunk food and sometimes you just need a Nacho Pizza and a large Monterey Slurp.

- Beth Baggs (Mom of 2, doing her best, secretly a top ranked player in a competitive online game)
- Pete Perry (local teen, insufferable, mimics things he liked from his favorite podcast)
- Hungry & High
Plot Seeds:
-Somehow, the Reedsboro Taco Box has become the center of a push for better pay and workers rights through a fast food union. But that’s made the workers a target for intimidation and coercion. And it seems like corporate has enlisted the aid of some professionals from Irons, Stocks, and Bates and their union busting services.
-The freezer to the Tacobox leads to another dimension, what happens when a robot that only speaks in advertisements slips through? Where did it some from? What is it’s plan?
-Something in the dumpster has been asking the Taco box workers to feed it thins in exchange for good luck. But lately the demands have gotten...grim.

Name: Reedsboro Volunteer Fire Department
Description: Reedsboro has never been a big enough town to really justify a full time fire department, but it was hard to tell from the robust brick monstrosity it called the volunteer fire department. With it’s expansive living quarters, tall double bay doors, the relatively modern and well maintained equipment housed within. Generous donations all from the well off that want to make sure their investments are taken care of. But the townsfolk are the people that keep and maintain the gear. In a small town like this, folk are itching for something to do and the possible excitement of a fire is too much to pass up. But most of the time it’s largely just a social club though no one will ever say it out loud.
Locals:
-Chief Clint Potter (fire chief, distrust dalmatians, believes he has been abducted by aliens before)
-Stephanie Holden (Ready to correct you, by the rules, sporty)
-Greg Alan (competent but not here to play hero, refuses to believe in aliens)
Plot Seeds:
-A series of arson have spreading throughout the town, who is the entity calling people to start these fires? Who is seen dancing in the flame.
-A hurricane has swept over the town and the fire department could use all the help they can get as first responders.
-A fundraiser goes wrong after a murder occurs. Now everyone at the party is a suspect.

Name: Williams Commerce Plaza
Description: No one called the Williams Commerce Plaza by it’s whole title. To most locals, it was just, “The Plaza”. A collection of brick and glass store fronts carved out of a side of a hill and organized around a fountain that smelled of chlorine. The soft white noise roar of the water feature echoed through the tin covered walkways between stores. Mostly tourist-facing outlets and stores ran by someone well off and in need of a hobby. Williams Commerce Plaza is not quite big enough to be a mall, but big enough to house a chain movie theater.
Locals:
-Benji Cruz (works at the megaplex, theater kid, can throw a punch)
-Janice Denny (works at the crystal palace, a head shop, has never smoked weed in her life because it’s immoral. Just really likes crystals and dragon statues)
-Teen Skateboarders
Plot Seeds:
-Late at night a skateboard race does through the plaza. And there is a prize at stake is too valuable for the main cast to pass up.
-There is a middle school rumor of a deep secret underground lair where spooky lab deep underneath the Plaza
-Something has caused the porcelain figures in the tourist shops to come to life, and they are angry.

Name: First Freedom Eagle Bank
Description: The First Freedom Eagle Bank is the only bank in an hour radius of the town. It’s a good thingthey have ATM’s all over the country. It has a three lane drive thru with pneumatic tubes and an inside of polished particle board desk and neutral tile broken up with the occasional plastic plant. But signs of life still existed in an otherwise impersonal environment. A family photo here, a desk bobble there.
Locals:
-Lisa-LawrenceBean (regional manager, unreasonably chipper no matter the circumstance. Might be a nervous reaction. Keeps knitting needles on her at all times.)
-Amal Haidar (janitor, a natural and passionate blues singer)
-the stressed about money
Plot Seeds:
- Someone has decided to rob the bank after being slighted by a system that was unfairly weighted against them and left them in a desperate situation. And now it’s up to you to find a way to de-escalate the situation.
-The bank holds the keys to overthrowing a corrupt politician and there is one solution. You must rob the bank.
-one day the vault opens to a place it’s not supposed to.

Name: Laireme Cars & Trucks
Description: Laireme Cars & Trucks was little more than a weedy parking lot marked out by weatherworn plastic flags. Neatly parked vehicles in various states of disrepair and wear from barely used to barely usable were spread across the lot in order to showcase them, with the nice cars being closer to the road to catch eyes. Certainly more than the yellowed plastic sign that read ““Ask about our veteran discount”. A small red building with a sheet metal garage stapled to the side functioned as the office. In the summer giant industrial fans were positioned to push air into the buildings, cooling what shade alone could not.
Locals:
-Dale Laireme (smoozing salesmen, has been divorced 5 time, 3 times to the same woman, in every commercial)
-Eduardo Yatra (actual makes the sales, has been married for 22 years, likes animals)
-Desperate and in need of a vehicle
Plot Seeds:
- After scraping parts from a junkyard, someone accidentally used parts from a M.I.C.E. Watcher robot to repair a car. Now it is on the hunt for geno and looks to make itself some sort of master mold to convert other cars into.
-one of the infamous commercials the dealer is known for is airing on every channel at the same time and no one knows why. The commercials are growing increasingly unhinged and no one remembers filming them.
-A geno has been caught in an incorporeal state and now the only way they can ask for help is through a wacky inflatable tube man
