Suggestion for 2025: Each month (well 10 of the 12), pick a decade anniversary year (1925, 1935, 1945, ... 2015) and open a post for suggestions for just that year. The poll using those suggestions would ideally cover a variety of genres (comedy, action, suspense, etc.) The order can be chronological order, or just picked at random each month, until all 10 have been exhausted. This would ensure that all eras receive at least some attention throughout the year, now that we have 100+ years of film history to celebrate. The posts for recommendations and polls seem to generate the most user engagement, and I think those focusing on 1 particular year would be no different. I really like seeing what films others are most passionate about. Of course, none of this need interfere with traditional topic-based polls, and would still leave many slots open each month for more recent mainstream films.

Given that I've been eating *much* more (deep) fried food than usual, surprisingly well. :-) (Note that one of the main non-fried dishes was beef tongue, which does not exactly provide a respite from fats.) How has the season been treating you? (Alternate answer: it's been de-light-ful. Ba-dum-tss.)

Awww, tomorrow's weather is going to be sucky in Scotland, many Hogmanay events cancelled. Dawn won't be able to show off her deerstalker. Shame. My resoluton is to force myself to have four large bags of garbage every week in my bin; will mean I'm cleaning out things.

To be totally honest, Louis, I have no clue. I watched the movie twice when it first came out, then searched to find where I could stream it from, today, and saw that there were those other two versions. I just want to be prepared, but I don't want to waste money by getting the wrong version. I know it's not much, but my financial situation isn't the best right now and the 10 bucks or so it would cost would be more useful at the gas station or the grocery store.
