Found my copy and yes it was the "Bad(der) Santa" release

I believe "Badder Santa" is a different cut from the Director Cut. There was 3 cuts of the film. I think I have that one on DVD somewhere. Thanks that helps

It is the unrated version, released in the US on DVD as "Badder Santa", but might be different in other countries. My copy lined up perfectly throughout. According to a few web sites it has 7 different minutes from the theatrical release, including alternate versions of scenes (probably some extra swearing) and a few additional scenes.

Your copy of Bad Santa is not the theatrical version or the Director’s Cut. I can’t find it anywhere.

For more Billy Bob Thornton, I highly recommend "Sling Blade" (1996). He wrote and starred in it, and it also marked his debut as a director. It won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and Thornton was also nominated for Best Actor.
