This movie is literally the worst thing I've ever watched. There's no reason to like this movie. There's nothing about it that is enjoyable. No matter how you go into this movie, or what you expect, it's just terrible. I have gotten into screaming fights with anyone who's tried to debate me on this.

I have to disagree. Airbender are Hufflepuff. Earthbenders can metal bend and lava bend, firebenders can shoot lightning, and waterbenders can freeze water and blood bend. What can airbenders do? Shoot air harder.

Saw this in theater with my adult best friend and it turned so awkward because we realized it was equal parts terrible and not for adults, or kids, or humans.

I never saw this movie but I did like the series. Were all the CGI effects seriously just little orbs? Does CGI cost by the square inch of screen it takes up? The water bending teacher was summoning huge shards of ice, and the uncle could breath fire, also the earth benders used to throw huge boulders like cannons. The special effects alone sound like a huge letdown if everyone was just playing catch with baseball sized elements. Also I cast a vote for you guys to review the Dragon ball movie. I also haven't seen that one but hear it's a load of crap, also heard they call the ki attacks air bending so maybe you'll like that CGI better.

No better way to show how terrible this movie is than compare how it handles the Blue Spirit with the actual episode "The Blue Spirit". The movie just takes the scenarios and some dialogue but doesn't bother with the broader context or characterization needed to actually make it work. It just ends up as useless padding instead of one of my favorite subplots of the series. I think Heath was way too hard on the show considering he only saw one episode of it. By the way Noah, if you like cool martial arts fights, you legitimately SHOULD check out the show, even if you just want to watch the fight scenes. I have no idea what Shyamalan was thinking making all the bending moves into weird group dances. In the show, it's literally kung-fu/karate/etc but with magic and the animation is amazing.

I watched the whole series including the recent "Legend of Korra" series. I too was horrified by the whitewashed actors with bland performances, the lack of the animated series' humor, and hackneyed effort to cram the whole first season of the animated series into a two hour movie. Curse you Mnight! CURSE YOU TO HELL!!!!

Oh my god i'm so glad you did this movie. Anyone who enjoyed the series (which for a kids' show was super well written) wants to hear the movie ripped to shreds. It's two hours of Shyamalan demonstrating his open contempt for the source material in every fucking scene because he decided to adapt a show that he didn't like, care about, or know the first goddamn thing about.

Guys.. I watched the Avatar animated series religiously. Then, when I saw this, I cried. Tears, tears of horror. I then subconsciously blocked the experience from my memory. You all, abruptly, brought it back. The Laughs were good, but I'm now going to be sad and weepy until I can again block this fucking heretical travesty against humanity from my memory. So... Probably the dumbest part of this movie was that it was intended to be a hypercondensed version of ALL of season 1. It was doomed from its inception to be a shitty remake even without M'Night's help.

It can best be summed up with "why? Because fuck you." In later seasons they add metal, lava, and blood bending. Blood bending is interesting because we're basically made of earth and water. Control those and you control a person.
