Star Wars was mind blowing to me when it came out. Sci-i till then was almost always so crappy and poorly done. So many scenes that looked like I could do in my back yard and plots done by 5 year olds. Then this holiday special came out and it was... yep, more crappy, stupid, thrown together sci-fi crap.

Lord Lotech

I watched this when it was first broadcast on TV. I walked away bored not even halfway through. I was six years old.

Markus Nävergård

attack of the clones aint that bad. i think it is enjoyable enough.

Heath Enwright’s Husband

Ready for a real life Mass-Agro spell? My genuine favorite Star Wars film is Attack of the Clones

Markus Nävergård

i remember a sci-fi con where folks sold this on pirated VHS. also Carrie was not Drunk i belive. she was high as a kite on cocaine i think

Lief Theorine

The fact that this was apparently live action is breaking my brain. I cannot believe people showed their real faces on this garbage

Erica

King killer!!! When's the next book coming out

Michael Browne

Anyone need a copy of this with the original commercials from 1978?

Devil Doc Josue

Miki Herman was the Star Wars consultant... fuck you Mikihttp://www.starwarsholidayspecial.com/crew.htm

I remember I was very excited to see this Holiday Special when it came out. I wasn't old enough to really articulate how awful it was though. I do remember thinking the space scenes were "off," the Wookiee family boring and the Boba Fett reveal being very underwhelming. Just a bad rotoscope job. At this point, I can say, gratefully, I've only seen it once--when it was broadcast on CBS.

John Grow

That was the big draw at the time. Boba Fett was the "mysterious new character" from the upcoming sequel. It was certainly why I watched it. They were advertising the Boba Fett action figure which you could only get with five or ten proofs of purchase. Mine took months to arrive.

Beth Swope

I miss the old breakfast club humming

KRiS

RIP Carrie Fisher.

Scott Hansen

RIP Carrie ... we will never forget you were killed by GAM

Mark Siefert

Ahhhhh... fuck!

Mark Siefert

I fear it may have been a Trump-sponsored assassination attempt. Remember she told the press a during the debates that she believed he was high on coke.

Mark Siefert

Wasn't the animated segment from the same studio that would give us the "Droids" and "Ewoks" Saturday morning cartoons?

Bfahome

The despondent, resigned little "no" that Eli gives when he finds out that this was Boba Fett's first on-screen appearance. <3

Deadeye Nick

Rhiz is amazing. Washington post ran an interview with Carrie Fisher from 1987 today. Talking about her absentee father, Eddie Fisher she said , and this is cut-and-paste, "Actually, if I want his attention, I sing. I have his voice. I have this kind of gigantic, large voice.”

Scott Hansen

lol... HISHE guys are great. best is Han looking miffed throughout the entire song!

Melissa Thibodeaux

The Jefferson Starship song is great, idgaf what anybody says.

Matthew Cherry

I hope you guys didn't kill Carrie Fisher. This year has been horrible enough. With the rise of drumpf and all the other high profile deaths.

Sarah Fullerton

"Star Wars" consultant... it think they meant Star Wars "consultant"

Mark Siefert

Holy shit! The day I listen to this, Carrie Fisher suffers a heart attack!

Scott Hansen

Gary... the stormtrooper's name is Gary. Look it up.

Mark Siefert

Horrific, isn't it?

Sarah Fullerton

So I thought you were exaggerating and had to click through the YouTube video. Wow just wow.

Mark Siefert

I'm surprised you guys didn't know who was playing black faced-four-armed chef/teaching video instructor/volcano-headed stalker: Harvey Korman. You know... from The Carol Burnett Show? Hedley Lamar from Blazing Saddles? Anyway, I recall seeing this when I was 4-years-old. My parents had gone "up north" to hunt deer, and I was staying at my Aunt's house that night. My Aunt remembers that night as well because I also came down with some stomach bug and I threw up Hawaiian Punch all over her couch. I had vague memories of it until I saw it again back in the 90s when a fellow geek scored a bootleg copy at GenCon. That was a painful trip down memory lane.

Tori MacNair

No lie - my husband was watching this when I came home from work last night.

Chubby Bunny

That'd be me. I've apparently worked in every single movie, and fuck everything up via sheer laziness and not-giving a fuck. Also, fuck you.

Sean

Who the fuck is Brian!?! Can someone point me to the episode where it's explained?

Joseph Kubal

This shows that you guys truly love your patrons . I have seen this like 6 times, but I tried getting my parents to watch this, and the answer I got was "I love you, but not that much". You all could have watched anything, and you chose this.

Matt

Holy crap, I did not believe you. It really is a terrible movie.

Mister CPU

I watched it live. Back then we were grateful to have any Star Wars on TV. At the time, I felt bad for Harvey Corman, and I didn't understand why Maude was singing in the cantina. On the other hand, how many holiday specials kill a stormtrooper.

Donna Tufariello

See, the problem is you are all too young for this genre. In the 1970s, we had four TV channels. TV seasons were LONG, and Christmas was a time when all the shows phoned it in. They either did clip shows or a Christmas-themed episode--which was, without exaggeration, always a permutation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. There was no "too sentimental" at Christmastime, either. I don't remember this movie, but, except for the number of stars, it sounds typical of what was aired during the season.

Donovan "Ravenhull"

This was filmed shortly after Mark Hammil's car accident, with them caking on makeup to cover the scars. Oh, I saw it on TV that night many years ago.

Christopher Arguin

The Bea Arthur song will be stuck in my head for weeks again.

Westin Williamson

I was hoping for this. I heard someone, maybe Noah, make a remark that made me think this was on the way. Can't wait.

Fel Martins

I had a hard enough time watching a youtube review of this movie. Just a few clips had me begging for it to end.

Fel Martins

I've listened to a lot of different podcasts on Mormonism, read a few different books and spent the first 21 years of my life in the religion. I've yet to meet anyone who knows as much as Bryce on the subject, except for maybe my father.

Ulukai insert something persnickety here

Called it! Don't know if I can make myself watch along. Once was enough.

Christopher Arguin

I'm 10 minutes into Ep 1 of Naked Mormonism... guess the rest of that will have to wait.
