I am here to gift to you LaaB V0.02.05 “The Boy Next Door Update Part I”.
Yes, Part I. I mentioned on the Discord, but this Update Cycle has been one of the craziest/chaotic we’ve had and many things did not go as planned and took longer than expected, hence the long time for this update to come out. The bad news is that some of the Lucas content, mainly the stuff that takes place at his house, isn’t implemented yet.
The good news, however, is that it is all mostly written and shouldn’t take too long to implement, I’m assuming a week or so. I decided it would be better to release Part I now, then finish it up in a week or so rather than delay it, to give you lads the ability to play what we’ve made. (Kind of like what we did with the Noah Update) Now on to the update features!
Being the “Lucas Update”, he has some decent new content. Firstly, the ability to hang-out with him outside of school. Currently, this can only be done by talking to him after school while waiting for the bus, but we also plan to let the PC call him or go to his house to arrange meetings. That’ll be in Part II. We also have Lucas’ first quest, “Ryker”, which gives a peek at his story which we plan to explore in Part II.
Other than the Lucas content, we have a bunch of other new stuff. A rebuilt Character Creation system with a TON of new options from Skin Colors, to Hair, clothing, and some other things tossed in as well, all thanks to our lovely spriters. We’ve also overhauled our Toggle System and added in Game Modes, for those who want to play in different ways. We also have our first supporter-character events, so be sure to check those out! Check out the changelog for more info on all that was added!
And finally, I have some other good news. Due to how chaotic this update was, and taking thoughts and suggestions from the community, we are going to change how our Update Cycles work. Rather than going for a big update every month or two with a mix of stuff, we are going to aim for smaller, more focused updates on a shorter cycle. Starting with Part II, updates should be more frequent, though in smaller batches.
What this means is that, firstly, character updates will be split into Parts. Split between Hang Outs/Events and House stuff. You’ll see this in the Carter Update. (I promise it won’t take 2 months for it to all be released.) Secondly, bug fixing will be a lot easier since it won’t be so scattered and Betas will be more consistent.
Thirdly, we plan to sneak in smaller, non-character updates between the character ones. These will focus on little things such as locations or features and will generally be smaller as a way to break from the more content heavy character updates to prevent burn-out. We also plan to allow our supporters to vote on what these small in-between updates will focus on. (Larger updates will still be voted on by everyone.)
Thanks again for all your support during these insane last 2 months and here’s hoping things go smoothly from here! :D
