How we decided to create Karaneko and our inspirations
🕑 Added 2024-10-23 12:37:34 +0000 UTCnekoda!: The morning after I finished Omori, I came up with the idea for Karaneko.
I’m an old Undertale fan. Back then, Undertale had a huge impact on me; it added so much to my life and changed it in many ways. Its story, gameplay, and characters were all amazing, and I immediately went online to look for more games like it. I tried many games, but none gave me the same feeling until Omori. After playing Omori, I searched online again and was met with an empty wall. I wanted more, MORE!!
At that time, I was a high school graduate trying to become a Webtoon artist. My work wasn’t going well; making 70-80 drawings a week was very hard, and I didn’t like working alone at all. Then a brilliant idea struck me: "Since I can't find what I want, I'll create it and play it myself!" I immediately ran to my friend Emarf, who knew software but had never made a game before. Then I told a few more people.
"WE'RE GOING TO MAKE A GAME LIKE OMORI AND UNDERTALE!"
At first, everyone was a bit cautious, but they liked the idea. Since that day, thanks to these two amazing games, I’ve been experiencing the joy of making games with my best friends, and I am very grateful!
