Paul Henreid does look a bit like Christopher Plummer. Fun fact, Paul Henreid risked deportation back to Germany while he was working in England. He was able to stay because Conrad Veidt (who played Major Strasser) spoke for him. Veidt himself was vehemently anti-Nazi, and even though he was a Gentile, listed himself as Jewish in solidarity with his wife.
