Ceyenne Doroshow! Sagittarius season!
🕑 Added 2025-11-23 22:22:47 +0000 UTCHey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there. It’s finally Sagittarius season! Among other things, that means it’s time to remind everyone of our mailing address, in case you’d like to loop me into your holiday card list or just say hi :)

This week on the show, Ozzy and I had the honor of chatting with G.L.I.T.S. founder Ceyenne Doroshow. We spoke with Ceyenne about her mother Miss Major, her 3-hour conversation with Zohran, and her work providing safe, stable housing for trans New Yorkers. She also shared her experiences as a trans kid in the ‘70s and ‘80s, her efforts to preserve Riis Beach as a queer haven, her strategies for providing asylum assistance for trans immigrants, and more.
Meanwhile, I’ve spent the week running around the west coast and experiencing a series of mishaps that may or may not be Mercury’s fault. This included me missing a train because GPS routed me to the Amtrak rail yard instead of the train station where they let you actually board the train. If you saw me sprinting around town with a rolling suitcase, no you didn’t!
Tuck chatting with Serena Hommes at Elliott Bay (left) and Soleil Ho at Local Economy (right)Thank you so much to everyone who came to my book tour events in Seattle and Oakland!!!! It was such a treat to see all of you. Our Portland tour date has been rescheduled for Dec. 19 at a local queer bookstore — I’ll share more details when there is a RSVP link, but mark ur cals in the meantime. I’ve also been invited to go to Providence in January. Are any of you in Providence????
I know you’re all sick of hearing book sale stuff but I must mention that everything in the Girl Dad shop is 15% off this week with code THECITY — plus, you get a free Phalloplasty Emporium print with every SCATC copy you order, which is imho extremely cool.
Okay, let’s do Links & Stuff.
Sabs wrote about Nuzzi & the Worm and I hope they win an award.
Elsewhere on Defector, Jasper shared advice for starting a media co-op in 2026, in case that’s something you were considering.
I think a lot about aphantasia but wasn’t aware of hyperphantasia — this New Yorker piece dives deep into both.
Speaking of brains and faces, anyone learn anything important from the face blindness quiz? I definitely got one surprised text about a friend’s results lol.
I am finally making an effort to listen to widely-acclaimed books on audiobook instead of choosing texts semi-randomly and then complaining that they’re terrible. I just finished Kindred and Oryx & Crake and can confirm that this is a much better reading strategy than just sort of stumbling into stuff.
Crucial Comix published a cute comic about swapping genders with an ex.
That’s it for this week. Here’s your weekly Rhubarb ft. Puffin. (You might have seen a similar one in the past but I took this one 10 hours ago, so it’s fresh.)
Xo,
Yr resident gender detective
