Mine kind of didn't happen.
I won't get into the full medical details but December has been a total disaster for me. Long story short: my mom is in the hospital, and Christmas got cancelled. I have been spending pretty much every day driving myself and my dad to and from her hospital room, and frankly nobody here has the energy here or even the desire to celebrate. No gifts, no tree, no anything. Just loads of stress and angst and not much else.
It's all on hold until she's ready to come home, which may not be for weeks.
Consequently I am even more burned out physically and emotionally than ever before.
I had said that I didn't know if I was taking January off. Well, I am saying it now.
I'm taking January off in the hope that eventually things get better.
I didn't think I should drop that on you at the last moment, so here it is at least a week early.
And here's to hoping 2024 doesn't suck, too.

Hang in there, Cobalt. Take whatever time you need. The health of one's self and one's family has to come first, as without that... You can always do a 'Christmas' in [month name here] when this is all behind you.

Sorry to hear the holidays weren’t so holly and jolly but glad you’re taking the time off to do what you need to for yourself and family. Hope you stay warm and safe out there in the mean time.
