Are you ready to come out?
You've lost track of how much time has elapsed since Tina stun-gunned you. You fell asleep bound in the chair and, when you awoke, Officer Morgan, Anastasia, and your bindings were gone and the empty room was fully furnished. It's as if a moving company worked overnight to set up some elaborate hoax, like the time your frat buddies got you drunk in a Boston bar and you woke up in a Buenos Aries motel.
For some reason, you feel even more hungover now than you did then. Deep within your hazy malaise, you seem to recall Tina sitting with you, cooking for you, even servicing you in bed, but you're not sure if the memories are genuine or some perversely pleasant fever dream of pseudo/psycho domestic bliss.
"Yes," you reply.
"Well, then come out," Tina's voice booms over the intercom. "The door has been open for hours."
You rise from the chair and tighten the belt of your robe, which you can't remember putting on, and shuffle towards the door. Your legs are leaden and slow to respond, but as you reach the heavy metal slab and give it a push, a cool rush of air from the hall clears your senses and straightens your posture. Stepping into the dimly lit corridor you take a deep and satisfying breath, like you just emerged atop the Alps from a stuffy cable car, then proceed towards the stairwell.
"Don't you want to see what I've been up to?"
You pause at the base of the stairs and look up at the security camera mounted to the ceiling.
"Anastasia is in her room. I assigned Officer Morgan my old one. I hope you don't mind. I'm in the control room. Come see me when you're ready."
