The mundane can be transformed into the sacred, though so too can the sacred be profaned and altered.
These spaces and layers of meaning and alteration of symbols can exist in layers upon each other. The minotaur happens to enter this layer. The layer of this heart, instead of a layer of monsters or deprecation.
When the building was whole, the heart would never have appeared in this form. Only by the deterioration of the temple can it be seen. Only in it’s ruin can the virtues of it’s construction be observed.
Only by it’s abandonment can it be approached by the uninitiated.

I also found the very similar structure, Church of the Redeemer in ruined city of Ani. It's really looks like this structure, and does have this feel of "Beauty of deteriorated".

Thanks! I'm not sure how to boil it down to any one thing, but a decent amount of reading, and also walking around and observing things, and trying to find interesting ways to engage with the relatively "meaning-sterile" environment of American suburbs and towns.
