Living Weapons (5e)
🕑 Added 2024-10-08 12:00:09 +0000 UTCFinally, after almost a year of the initial poll I finished the Living Weapons. This has been a bit of a troubled production but here we are! It's also really great to see Chikkibug provide some art again for this project.
Play as a sentient weapon who transcended their weapon nature and never be caught unarmed!
Edit: As I expected due to the complexity of the race you will find me doing alot of small edits to clarify/rectify some stuff in this throughout the day as more people look at it. So make sure to check this one out again a day from now or so to stay up to date.

In which context? Do you mean the weapon form types in the table?

Is Battle and Martial the same thing?

Yeah, i kinda copy and pasted that phrase faulty and had id through the entire document. I will fix it as soon as I can.

I also noticed Infused Strike has the line, "You can use this trait an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus before you can use it again." which I assume is meant to be every Long Rest like some of the other subrace abilities.

Oh, I have a suggestion! The point of the Swift weapon form is to be dual-wielded, so maybe let that from specifically allow you to manifest/become a pair of weapons? Or maybe there's going to be a feat that lets you manifest/become two of your weapon form? Then in types other than swift you could be dual-wielded by someone with the dual wielder feat, or just wielded by two different people and be able to use your weapon form actions from either position.

...that's actually an oversight. Good catch!

This is a really cool race and I hope to get to play with it soon! I am wondering about the properties for the Polearm weapon type though. Seems like it's based off Pike/Halberd but doesn't have the two-handed property so I wonder if that's intentional or an oversight.

i take it you are looking at an older version of this. I edited the file and updated it to a version that fixed those issues :D

Spirit Nature refers to an Infused Strike trait, which there doesn't appear to a trait called that, and also mentions a saving throw that has to do with the Release trait, which has no mention of such a thing. Finally, the end of of the Decisive Strike trait is worded very weirdly and needs clarification.

neat. Suggestion for a quick revision: - Living weapon. The merging of the equipment. Reread that: it's phrased weirdly. - Living weapon. Just say the only allowed actions are "returning to your humanoid form and those allowed by your subrace while in weapon form". Just so you don't have to specify each time "you can still do this action/reaction/whatever". - Protective skin. +1 while not wearing heavy is useful, but so could be using constitution instead of dexterity to calculate armor while wearing light or medium armor, given some stuff requires charisma, it might remove some M.A.D. from some subraces
