Yesterday I hugged my parents for the first time in 8 months. To say that I am happy is to say nothing)
They settled in a small house with a large garden in the Kyiv region. This is the summer cottage of dad's friends who gave them the opportunity to live there until the war ends. Because in our native city there is constant shelling from aviation and it is very dangerous to be there.
All summer they were engaged in the garden and preparations for the winter and small repairs in the house. Now autumn has started, there is more free time and dad started fishing) He asked me to buy a whole list of devices for this in Kyiv. Now I know the difference between a wobbler, a popper, a spinner and a silicone) When I was little, it was my favorite pastime to go fishing with my dad.
Mom didn't go to the hairdresser all this time and her hair grew so much that it was the first time I saw such a length in all my almost 27 years. And finally I understood from whom I have curly hair) She looked surprisingly beautiful - not as tortured and sad as I used to see on video calls.
During this time, my cousin turned from a little girl into a woman. She turned 14 in the summer - she is already taller than me, and to be honest, I am starting to envy her physical forms) And I am very sorry that she is going through a war at her age. For some reason I feel guilty about that.
My grandfather is a child of the war - the Second World War. And now he is also the grandfather of war) But already Russian-Ukrainian. He was the only one who didn't care about the sirens and the explosions, but... when he came to the village with my parents, he fell and broke his hip. I think everyone knows what it means when a person who is almost 90 years old breaks a bone (especially in the leg)... This means that it is unlikely to grow and the person is unlikely to start walking again. Grandfather has been lying in bed for the 4th month and hardly sits up. It is difficult for him to raise his arms up. And of course, due to age, he began to forget everything that is happening now and remember more of the past and his childhood. I see that he is tired. He always told me that he did not want to become weak, he did not want to be a burden for his children and grandchildren. But, unfortunately, it turned out as it was not intended (
I was in this village with them for only a day, and it seemed to me that life was beautiful. And I don't need anything more than just being with them.

Dear Julia, are you still in Kiev? Russia just launched fierce rocket attacks in retaliation for the Kerch Bridge blast.. Please let us know you’re OK..
